I refused to turn on the lights.
'Why are we in the dark?' He droned out sarcastically
'Because then the neighbours will see us' I snapped back
'So?'
'So, their snoopy butts will tell Aurora tomorrow and I don't want to deal with the follow up questions. Do you?'
' What kind of follow up questions?' He mused
Ugh, honestly why did I ever agree to this.
' You're not insinuating that she would think something was going on between us, right?' He pressed on
'Ew. God no, I'm just saying she would ask what you were doing in the kitchen at 3am. Home alone. With me.'
' Mhm,' he smirked, running his hand through his hair. So sure of himself.
I hated him. I hated him. Why did this man have to be so confident. I guess part of of the reason was that I was jealous of how he was able to interact with others with such stride.
Just as I was about to ask him if he wanted any food after all or if he just enjoyed watching me suffer too much, I heard him walk over to the kitchen door.
Turning my head quickly, through the faint street lights outside, I saw him reach for the light switch.
Oh hell no.
I already avoided Aurora as much as I could, I didn't want to give her yet another reason to whine at me. I didn't need any more judgement from her.
I dont know what took over me. I'd never done anything like this before, but I practically leaped to the other side of the kitchen and latched myself onto his body. Whisper shouting 'no'.
I guess I must have put a little more force in it than I thought, or I'd caught him completely off guard but I sent us both tumbling to the ground.
I squeezed my eyes shut, bracing myself for impact. But when I I didn't feel the cold marble floor hit my back I cautiously Peaked one eye open.
Instead of lying on the floor with the wind knocked out of me, I found myself directly underneath Rome, being held up by his left hand so that I wouldn't go crashing whilst his other hand held himself up.
Slowly, he lowered the hand I was supported by and placed me gently on the floor.
I opened both my eyes, and for just a second, no. Just for a split second I was enamoured by him. His strong bone structure, with a slightly tanned complexion greeted me, along with the warmth being radiated from his chest. His eyes looked back at mine and even through the darkness I could still see the waves of deep blue, washing over me.
For a moment his full lips caught my attention. I wish they were just a little closer.
NO.
June snap out of it, I mentally scolded myself for wanting something so unthinkable.
I locked my eyes back onto his and a sudden air of surprise must have taken over my features because he moved himself off me.
Clearing his throat he stood up and lent a hand down for me to take.
' Jeez alright I guess you're really serious about the lights then' he chuckled.
Amused. This man was amused.
I refused to take his hand and shot back up on my feet. I crossed my arms in an attempt to portray anger. It didn't work.
He strolled over to the cupboards, still chucking to himself and began looking at all the snacks.
