Both boys boarded the bus deciding to take a seat next to each other. Taehyun wasn't particularly fond of the guy and his weird personality but his death jokes were a little concerning. He still didn't know if the guy was joking or not but from the previous situation, it seemed to be serious.
Yet Beomgyu looked so calm, like he hadn't just attempted to take his life and when failed, just brushed it off as if it was a casual everyday event which Taehyun started to doubt again.
"Your thoughts are so loud." Beomgyu said in a bored tone from beside him. Taehyun's heart dropped. Had he said all of those things out loud?
"You've been squinting at the bus seat in front and shaking your leg nonstop. Its a little obvious you're either deep in thought or a mess."
"Or both", he added after a pause.
Taehyun sighed.
"Look, I don't know what foot we got off on but it seems wrong for me to not get you proper help, especially after that happened." He slowly said, eyebrows furrowing.
Beomgyu seemed completely unfazed.
"Why? Its not like I died there right? I'm fine so don't worry about me~" He said in a light voice, smiling at Taehyun.
He has a beautiful smile, Taehyun thought. He wondered why Beomgyu was so nonchalant about death.
"You're alive yes, but, that was a risky move you know? Why did you want to end your life? Is university not treating you well?" he asked, confused by Beomgyu brushing off such a grave topic so casually.
Beomgyu leaned his head back on to the headrest of the bus seat, adjusting himself to a comfortable position before looking at Taehyun and shrugging.
"Nah, uni is amazing, just boring. Honestly I don't even know what it is at this point. Maybe living isn't fun anymore so why not die? Thoughts?" he asked.
"...and prayers. What is wrong with you Beomgyu? We're still in university, you can't possibly think life isn't fun already!" Taehyun answered, frustrated now.
Beomgyu turned his head to lock eyes with him with an unreadable expression.
"Really?"
"Yes!"
"Prove it to me then."
Taehyun raised an eyebrow.
"Excuse me-?"
"Prove to me that life is worth living. If I find one reason good enough, I'll stop trying to kill myself. I think." Beomgyu said before closing his eyes and leaning back again.
Taehyun didn't answer for a few moments.
Prove it to him? As in make him enjoy life?
How was he supposed to do that? Why is he even acknowledging this in the first place? They're still pretty much strangers and have no connection to each other whatsoever. Taehyun wasn't able to understand why he wanted to agree to Beomgyu's suggestion. He also wasn't able to figure out whether he wanted to prove Beomgyu wrong or just wanted to save an innocent soul from departing the world so early.
Maybe both.
"Did you fall asleep princess?" A voice next to him pulled him out of his thoughts again. Taehyun really needed to stop zoning out while people were conversing with him.
"P-princess?" He asked, more horrified than confused.
"What? You have blonde hair, glassy skin and doe eyes. Seemed like a fitting nickname with all the Cinderella aesthetic you have going on here." Beomgyu answered, exaggerating his words on purpose to strike a nerve.
