Hey guys! Again, thanks for all the views! I'm still stepping away from Luka's POV,, though I think next part I'm probably going back to him. I'll try to make this part longer. Hope you enjoy!

"I'm going to hop the fence," I told my best friend Connor. We were taking a walk, and I just saw the fence. He suggested as a joke that we climb it, and how could I resist?

"No, Reya. Don't do it! I don't want you to die!" I rolled me eyes. Connor was just being overly dramatic, like usual.

"I won't die. The worst that'll happen is I break my back and am paralyzed." I knew that wouldn't even happen, it just worried Conner even more.

"News flash. Being paralyzed isn't good," Conner said, not even smiling at my joke. I laugh faded. When I looked at Conner, all I could feel was sadness. His parents were in our main city, Doreckvir, when the bombing started. His mom didn't make it out.

Conner never had the best relationship with his mother. They got into fights all the time, over stupid things, but she was just such a bitch! Still, it was a lot harder for him with a parental figure out the way. His dad worked full time, and couldn't take any time off work. Conner was left caring for his younger sister, who was a pain in the ass.

It just made Conner more serious. He no longer laughed, and there was a dead light in his eyes whenever he spoke. Who could blame him? I was trying to bring things back to normal, but I could only help so much.

My dads didn't let me out the house as often as I would've liked to help Conner. I could only pitch into little things.

And yes, dads, plural. I'd gotten so much anger over them, but I was trying me best to ignore it. I didn't give a shit that I was adopted, or that my parents were gay. They took good care of me, so everyone else could fuck off.

"Whatever." I started climbing, shoving my foot inside it. I pulled myself up, and step after step until I was at the top. I looked down, and only then did I realize how high I actually was. It was one of the bigger fences, but from the ground, it didn't look that tall. "Fine. I'll be nice to you and come down."

When I got to the bottom, I hid how relieved I was. "Reya," Conner snapped. "You could've hurt yourself!"

I scowled. "Don't call me that!" Reya was an old nickname, but I'd always hated it. Of course that didn't stop Conner from using it.

Then I sighed. I was only making a big deal out of that because my world was going to shit. It was only these small moments of peace that Conner and I was able to steal, where there was no bombing, death, or angry parents. Not in that order.

"I wanted-" Conner didn't get anywhere else with that sentence. He choked, staring in shock at the arrow protruding from the base of his throat. "CONNER!" The word was ripped out of my mouth.

I rushed to him just as he fell, the life draining out of him. "Conner," I sobbed. "Stay with me. Please. I need you. I love  you. Conner please. Please. Please." I this point, I wasn't even sure who I was talking to. I was just begging for this not to be real. But it was. Conner, my oldest and best friend, was dead.

"NO!" I looked up to see who shot the arrow. Who would want him dead? Someone was watching. Even though my vision was blurred with tears, I could still make their white and silver armor. Armor? Over here? I supposed it was close to the Kyrzenia border. Maybe  they were scared of attacks. They were wearing a mask.

Did Conner make a really big enemy that he didn't tell me about? Then I realized. The thought was even worse than Conner's death. Maybe they underestimated my height, 5,3. I was really short, and Conner was annoyingly tall.
