Hey guys! Again, sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been having an extreme case of writer's block lately. Anyway, hope you enjoy, and if you do, please comment and vote. (#shamelessybegging) Enjoy!
I sighed as I stood there, waiting for the Sunkiller to finish with the girl. He wanted me for a job after, because he found out about my training and heard that I fought well in the last fight. I was to be the 'bodyguard,' but I thought it was more like an assassin. I needed to kill anyone who raised an arm against him. I wanted to do it as soon as possible, get it over with, but hen insisted in doing it after he talked to the girl that was eavesdropping on me.
I knew I was in deep shit. He didn't even have to blackmail me to take the job offer. My brain said no, but I said yes. It was the same thing as before that made me turn traitor. Just a voice in my head that told me to do things I usually wouldn't. Not that I hadn't been tempted to kill some Elites, but still...
I'd been hearing it ever since I was punished for the first time. Something happened, but I couldn't remember what. Every time I tried to think of what, my head started throbbing so much I just gave up.
It didn't matter that I just signed my life away to someone who would probably tear up the world if he had the option. I said yes without even hesitating.
I saw the girl walking out, looking shaken up and terrified. Curiosity sparked through me. What did the Sunkiller want with her?
I'm a very big extrovert, so I had no qualms about going up to her. Julian used to get embarrassed when I would do things like that, or make jokes, be sarcastic, basically anything, actually. He would get embarrassed a lot, hit me, and say "If anyone asks, I have no association with you, whatsoever. I've never met you in my life." I would then go up to a random stranger and say "This is my best friend Julian. Isn't he amazing?" Julian would awkwardly stammer things out, and the stranger would just laugh.
"Hey. I'm Luka. What's you name?" Small talk. I usually hate doing this.
"F-Freya," She replied. The way she spoke, in that quiet tone that implied she was shy, reminded me of Julian. He wasn't a quiet person once you got to know him, but he took some warming up. It was probably the same case with Freya.
I decided to jump right to the point. "What did he want with you?"
She looked taken off guard by my bluntness. "I- He um.."
"Cat got you tongue?" I never had the patience for stammering and people saying "um" a million times. "Spit it out or don't tell me. I can help, though."
"I don't-"
"People around here suck. In fact, the whole Eastern Hemisphere sucks. If anyone says otherwise, they're not just wrong, they're stupid."
"It does suck," She agreed. "So much shit is happening at all times."
"I swear," I said. "It's worse then a bunch of middle school girls put in the same room for a day." She laughed. "So true."
The Sunkiller left the room from before, sweeping past us, snapping his fingers at me like I was some sort of dog. "That would be my cue to go. I'll see you around."
"See you."
I followed the Sunkiller down the hallway and out the door. There was a group waiting for us outside, all cloaked and masked. The Sunkiller pulled up his mask and we got into the shuttle.
It was a pretty short ride. In only a few minutes, we were at the destination, which was an old run down building. The driver parked it on the roof, and we all got out. They were already waiting for us, whoever we were seeing. I hadn't been briefed on any of the details. I supposed I don't really need to know who we're seeing, as long as they don't try to attack. Didn't mean I wasn't curious, though.
