8 YEARS EARLIER....
" PIPER WAKE UP!" I say, jumping on Piper's sleeping bag.
" ow. what's wrong?" She says, now in a ball to avoid being jumped on.
" TODAY'S MY BIRTHDAY!"
" I know! Oh- Here!
Piper spins quickly, then she has a bag of gifts.
"omg you got me something?"
" YUP! Open it!"
I open it, and find a lot of candy.
" Thank you." I say, hugging her.
" No problem, bestie!"
My door opens.
" What are you screaming about, this early in the morning?" My mom says, quietly.
" Look, Piper got me all this!"
" Honey.... Where did you get that?"
" I just said, Piper gave me it! Isn't that nice?"
".... sure. yeah that was very nice. Please keep the noise down!" Mom says, a little sternly
"ok." I say, smiling.
Mom walks back to her room, and I sit on my bed.
" another year..... still no Lilian" I whisper to myself.
" Who's Lilian?"
" Oh, she was my best friend. The day we met, was when I found out she.... passed away." I say, starting to get emotional.
" I'm sorry. I bet she was a amazingly gorgeous girl!" Piper says, trying to cheer me up.
I look down at the floor. Before I knew it, tears were running down my face. Piper puts her arms out, and I immediately get into them.
" She would have like you...." I say, wiping my tears.
" She would?"
" yeah. You and her were very alike."
" I wish I got to meet her."
" L-Let's not talk about her! Do you wanna play something?" I say, trying to change the subject.
" Yeah, okay!" Piper says, going along with it.
Piper's literally the best!
She's my best friend!
