"I don't know about you, but I'm so pumped for this fight. It's been years since the last one and I'm desperate to see if the stories my father told me were true, you never know in the arena."

Rubin was munching on some chips greedily while chatting away. I couldn't help but agree with him, a fight never failed to boost the morale of everybody in the pack and I was looking forward to it myself- pushing the dark feeling of loneliness away for the day.

A little bit of blood and gore never hurt anybody.

The whole pack had turned up to this event and looking around it seemed as if many of the surrounding packs had the same idea. This fight has been the first dispute over the hierarchy of a pack in around two decades and had taken centre stage of conversation since, especially as Seven bragged about his clear win, the female which to him, sounded like she wasn't worth the whole commotion.

To the rest of the Alpha males from that board meeting agreed, she'd signed her own death note and buried herself six foot under.

"I don't think she'll last a minute," Rubin said between a mouthful of chips, ending his analysis on the match.

I crossed my arms and leant back on the metal bench, the coolness refreshing against the 25-degree heat, "I'd give her about ten seconds if she's lucky."

He snorted, "Seven would take less than that to tear every limb from her body."

"I was being generous, and knowing Seven's family he'll toy with her, then fuck her up slowly."

He rubbed the crumbs off his shirt before running a hand through his stubble, "That may be true but with all these people here, I reckon he'll finish her and do it quickly. I'll bet twenty bucks on it."

"I think you're underestimating the female Alpha, she was chosen as Alpha for a reason so I don't think you should dismiss her so quickly."

I looked at Bleu. He'd barely spoken since the meeting at the River Bend Pack and I hadn't got a chance to ask him about his outburst. And looking at him now, he wasn't joining in our discussion nor seemingly interested in the fight that had been deemed the 'battle of the decade'.

"Bleu," Rubin shook his head pointedly, "A female is no match for a male in battle. This 'Alpha' won't stand a chance physically or mentally in combat and nothing will change that."

He sat forward, eyes intensely staring at the battleground in front of us with his hands clasped around a can of coke. "I have a hunch and I reckon you're going to eat your words."

I watched him carefully. His wolf was pacing behind his eyes and I could sense, however little, his protectiveness over the female. My wolf responded with a snap, unhappy with where his loyalty lay. I was the Alpha and he knew where his place was. As my friend, I still didn't tolerate disrespect from him and he knew that. His wolf receded but Bleu's eyes still burned with an unknown emotion.

"And I think you're completely wrong, have you seen Seven? He's not someone to regard so casually. His family reputation should be more than enough to show that she literally has little to no hope. Not as if she would have survived this anyway." I grumbled sharply, drawing a flinch from Bleu.

"I agree, she'll have to be pretty special to beat someone like Seven." Rubin butted in, stuffing the remainder of the salty chips in his mouth while Bleu shook his head.

I ruffled the blonde hair on top of Bleu's head, much to his displeasure, "It's cute that you care so much about this girl but it will get you nowhere, baby."
