they got to the hospital pretty fast, thanks to sanghee's reckless driving. all the nurses were confused and a little angry about them coming through the emergency entrance, leading a few of them to come out, most likely to scold them.
"hey! this is only for emerg-" a nurse started, but was immediately cut off by minho's scream as he got out of the car. "fuck!" he cursed. the nurse went to get a gurney when she saw the huge shard of glass wedged in his kneecap.
"breathe. in and out, do it with me baby." jisung comforted him and helped him through the pain as best as he could. minho was placed on the gurney and they wheeled away, without letting jisung, or jisung's mothers, go through with them.
nayeon was calm for the whole ride while minho explained some bullshit story about how he tripped on a wine bottle. but as soon as minho showed visible pain and even screamed, that's when she got scared. she clung to hyunsoo while she watched her only brother be wheeled away into a hospital.
"where is oppa going?" she asked in a shakey voice and hyunsoo finally noticed the girl's distress. "hey, hey, hey, it's okay. minho is strong, he'll be okay." her voice was calm as she held the girl closer.
they walked into the hospital where they were instructed to sit in the waiting room. while hyunsoo comforted the little girl, sanghee made her way over to jisung and sat in the seat next to him. "baby? how are you holding up?" she spoke while putting a hand on his shoulder. she knew he heard her, but he didn't answer.
"i could've stopped it." he said in a tone no louder than a whisper. the woman furrowed her eyebrows. "what? you know that's not-" jisung sighed frustratedly. "yes it is! h-he told me his parents didn't care about him! i should have figured it out sooner- fuck!" he explained angrily.
sanghee was afraid of this. "language!" she reminded him of the child sitting not even two feet away from them. "baby, you had absolutely no way of knowing." she tried to get him to understand but the stubborn boy refused.
"h-he told me things at home weren't good! i should've known better than to let him in that house.. he even looked uncomfortable when we were talking about it!" sanghee looked at her son in a bit of a panic. "han jisung! stop spewing nonsense! you're an eighteen year old boy, not a fucking psychologist!" she whisper yelled that last part. jisung had stopped talking by this point. he knew arguing with his mother would do nothings good for either of them, so he nodded slowly.
she sat back slowly and let out a deep breath. "thank you." hyunsoo had been watching this whole interaction from afar since it started. "listen to her." she smiled sadly at him. the boy understood and took out his phone to play whatever games was on there to pass the time and try to distract himself from the fact that he didn't know if his boyfriend would be okay.
