minho and nayeon were calmly watching cartoons.
the house was quiet. too quiet.
that was until the yelling of their mother calling them down for dinner interrupted their silence.
all of them cautiously sat down.
all you could hear was the clinking of knives and forks for a while.
that was until minji spoke up.
"haechan dear, do you think we can enroll nayeon in school anytime soon ?"
minho felt shivers run up his spine at the very mention of this subject.
last time his mother asked this question, she left the room with a black eye.
"hm.. minji, i think you're right. i think we can." haechan answered. slightly smiling to his wife.
everyone was shocked at his response.
he wasn't one to do anything without a fight.
this was unusual, and it scared minho straight to his core.
nayeon looked up at minho. who was still blank and confused. then she looked at both her parents, who were both smiling warmly.
"really ? thank you thank you thank you !!"
she squealed happily. she looked up at her brother once more, who had finally snapped out of his confused daze and smiled back.
their family dinner ended well, which was unusual.
after dinner, minji had tucked in nayeon and had gone to sleep peacefully with her husband for the first time in months.
it seemed that everyone was at peace.
except minho.
right now, he was alone in his room, with his thoughts.
and anyone who's been following closely, knows that this is not a good thing.
all the thoughts minho had tried so hard to push away were coming back in a flash.
"why am i here ? nobody needs me. nobody knows me. why does it hurt ? how do i make it stop ? please.. make it stop. please let me go. don't make me suffer. what did i do to deserve to be here ? make it stop.."
minho hadn't realised he was crying till he looked down at the puddle he had created in front of his bedroom door.
he needed comfort. he needed someone to tell him it would be okay. but, no one was there to tell him that.
he fell to his knees with a thud, which definitely didn't go unnoticed by the rest of his family.
a small part of him wanted them to walk in. he wanted them to care. but then there was that bigger part that kept repeating the same sentence.
"suck it up, suck it up, suck it up, suck it up."
he crawled further into his room not being able to control his breathing. it was ragged and staggering.
his arms flung around his legs as soon as his back hit the wall.
he looked up when he heard his bedroom door opening.
"minho ? what was that sou-" his mother, minji stood in front of his doorway looking at him.
another tear fell and his breathing got worse.
minji simply backed away and closed her son's bedroom door and walked back to her room as if nothing happened with a big smile on her face.
that was the last straw for minho. he walked into his bathroom and opened his cabinet, ignoring his frightening appearance.
