I didn’t have to wait long before my phone buzzed as I received Tiffany’s reply to my text message.

T: Aw good morning to you too

Me: Are you busy today?

T: Work.

Me: Oh ok.

My heart sank with that text. My day felt ruined with the thought of not spending time with her. I didn’t know what I would do with myself. She was the only thing I could think about, she was the only I wanted to think about. Tiffany was the only thing that I wanted to occupy my time, but now I would have to find something else. My phone buzzed again and my heart fluttered and I quickly picked it up to look at the message.

T: I would love to see you after though.

Me: I would love to see you too

I smiled cheeky to myself. She wanted to see me; she wanted to spend time with me.

T: I could make you dinner?

Me: Just tell me what time and I will be there.

T: 6?

Me: I’m there :)

With that our conversation slowly ended as she had to leave to work. Now I had all day to figure out what to do to pass the time till six o clock. I was still lying in bed, so I decided that would be the first thing to do.

I crawled out from under the blankets and threw on some sweat pants, leaving my chest bare. I opened the door; the house was chilly causing the hair on my body to stand and small bumps to form on my skin. The house was dark, despite the light from the sun shining through the windows.

I walked into the kitchen, looking for my mum but instead finding a note lying on the kitchen table. I picked up the small piece of paper and held it in my hands looking down at the neat cursive writing on it.

Harry,

Robin and I have left for work. There is food in the kitchen please help yourself. Be safe and be good. We will be home late.

Love Always

Mum

She must have thought I wasn’t awake I smiled at her note, just like when I was a child. I sat the paper down on the table and looked around the kitchen. There were some dishes in the sink that needed to be done and the floor needed to be swept and mopped.

I felt a low grumble in my stomach. I walked over to the counter and pulled out a bowl. I poured me some cereal and ate at the table. The house was quiet and I felt as if you could hear the crunch as I chew ten miles away. I got up leaving my bowl and flipped on the television turning it to a music station. I went back into the kitchen and finished my breakfast.

After I walked to the sink and began washing the dishes. There weren’t too many and when I had finished I dried them and put them away. The music filled the house and I sang along to it as I worked. I pulled out a mop bucket from the closet and grabbed the mop. I filled the bucket up with water and some soap and started cleaning the floors after I had swept them.

Cleaning seamed to relax me. It kept my mind and body busy. Before I knew it I was cleaning the whole house that was already clean. I wiped shelves and vacuumed floors, folded clothes while doing laundry. I made my bed and even wiped down some walls that seemed a little dirty.
