"Will!" Mike had shouted, running after Will through the forest. "Wait up!" The little boy had finally caught up with Will. Grabbing him, he let out a laugh. "Will, I want to be with you forever and ever. I love you Will!" "I love you too Mike!" Later that day, Mike and Will had gone on the swings. "Let's make a promise to always love each other. Always and forever!" Mike had smiled. He liked the sound of that."Of course, Will! I promise! " They reached out and took each other's hands, each boy smiling softly.Suddenly two older boys approached them. "Ew! Stupid Queers!" one said. The other one pretended to gag. Will and Mike had no idea what "Queer" meant. That night, Will had asked his mom."Well, It's someone who loves another person of the same gender." She said, pouring a cup of Orange juice for Will. "So a boy loving a boy?" Joyce nodded. "Mom, me and Mike told each other that we would always love each other. Always and Forever!" Joyce smiled sadly. "That's really sweet Will." She had said, giving him a hug. Will had no idea what the two boys had meant when they said "ew." What was wrong with being in love with a boy? But he knew he loved Mike. And that Mike loved him back.
