3rd POV

Another day in the lonesome life that Fumuyoshi Yukino lead.

No one can blame the man, fox, God, or whatever he is, for being lonely. For one, being trapped by what others called a paradise for millennia or even more was not fun.

To Yukino, it was fun for the first century or so. However, when the novelty started to die down and he realized he could not get out of the damnable place, things started to become bland and torturous for him.

Every day was spent looking at the same thing over and over again, the same scenery, the same land, the same tunes of nature, and the same company of loneliness.

It was a testament to the fox's will to not have succumbed to madness sooner.

However, sooner or later, he would degrade into a manic beast if the situation were to continue.

Maybe it was an act of kindness or pity, but one day when Yukino was gazing at the sky while the moon eclipsed the sun, a change occurred.

A weak ripple, barely recognizable spread throughout the land. To any mortal man, they would not have felt it, but Yukino was far from mortal.

With a curious and hopeful gaze, he followed where the ripple originated from.

Barely suppressing himself from running over desperately, he slowed his pace and calmed his mind.

His eyebrows soon twitched though in irritation as the ripple led him towards Moon Villa.

Moon Villa was the place Yukino lived in for his whole life inside this so-called paradise. He grew to love and hate said place. Love because it was the only home that gave him comfort yet at the same time hate because it reminded him that he was alone in the big building.

With a sigh, he entered his home and followed the trail of the ripple.

The hardwood beneath his feet echoed a steady melody to his ears but he paid no attention to it.

Soon, the ripple led him upstairs, towards a corridor he only ventured once for curiosity's sake.

It was a mystery to the God as to why there were so many rooms inside the villa, much more than usual ones.

He tried opening one before only to be met with stubborn resistance from the knob.

The God does not want to admit it, but due to boredom, he dedicated a whole decade just to see if he can open the damn door.

He couldn't.

Anything he tried did not open the door nor budge it, or even destroy it.

And so, Yukino glared at the door in front of him as, coincidentally, it was the same door he tried opening before.

'It's you again. My one and only nemesis in this blasted realm.'

He gripped the knob on the door, thinking that he would once again be met with stubborn resistance only to squawk indignantly as the door suddenly slammed itself open.

Stumbling to a stop, Yukino blinked as a soft sensation bumped into his chest.

"Owwiee..."

Yukino, in all of his stupidity, stared dumbly at the girl in front of him.

Long brown ponytail hair cascaded below her back, and two feathers sat atop of her head. Her golden-brown eyes blinked with confusion as she nursed her forehead.

Around her shoulder and covering mostly her top was a brown cloak with what seemed to be hieroglyphs.

Yukino further inspected the clueless owl in front of him. As to why call her an owl, it seems fitting.

Her gloves for one, seem to be unique as the index and pinky fingers were left bare. Below, she wore a pleated skirt adorned with a belt that contains some things. A small dagger, a pouch, and to Yukino's confusion, a lantern.

Any further inspection was brought on hold as a flying paper bag(?) with a face blocked his sight.

Yukino blinked as the paper bag frowned.

"A flying paper bag with a face... Yep, I'm going crazy."

"What? No! Friend is... Friend!"

You could not blame Yukino for giving the owl a deadpan face. You really can't.

Said owl puffed her cheeks at him and snatched Friend(?) away.

"Rude. Who are you anyway?"

"I should be the one asking that!"

The owl and Yukino stared at each other, both trying not to lose composure but the owl was the first to give in.

It was a snicker at first, before a chuckle, and then a full-blown giggles. Yukino joined her, finding the situation funny.

"Let's start this over again. My name is Fumuyoshi Yukino, just a normal fox deity trapped in this never-ending paradise."

"Nice to me you Fumuyoshi, that's too long, how bout Fumu? Yeah, Fumu." Yukino or now Fumu blinked at the sudden change of topic but one look from the floating paper bag made him sigh in exasperation.

That look screamed, "This happens all the time, get used to it.".

"So are you gonna introduce yourself or are you gonna stare at my face?"

The owl blushed in embarrassment at that and chuckled apologetically.

"Right, sorry. I'm Nanashi Mumei, a member of... Of... Why can't I remember..." Fumu looked on with concern as the now introduced Nanashi Mumei gripped her head tightly in confusion and fear.

"Hey, hey, easy." Fumu gently as he could, made Mumei sit down on the bed. Her hands still gripping the sides of her head as she muttered over and over again. Friend, the floating paper bag, you can't convince Fumu otherwise, nudge its head in a way to comfort Mumei.

Seeing the distress over the paper bag's face as well as the fear in Mumei's quivering voice. Fumu did what he thought could help.

He hummed an archaic lullaby softly into Mumei's ears. Her breathing evened out and her shiver stopped as she gradually calmed down. It didn't take long however, for Mumei to lean into Fumu's shoulder and snore quietly.

"Oh... She slept." Fumu sighed softly, his very own divine authority exuding outward.

It was warm and peaceful. For Fumu's divine authority as a God was a motherly one. How and why was a mystery.

For now, Fumu was content as he laid down Mumei on the bed and covered her with a blanket. The floating paper bag floated down and settled beside Mumei, a happy smile plastered on its face.

Fumu gave it a head pat to which it somehow purred, he doesn't know.

He walked out of the room before he glared at the door. Yukino still remembered how it made him look like a fool earlier, he was lucky that Mumei was too confused earlier to notice.

"So I have a companion? Tenant? Problem child? Whatever, I'm not alone now at least. I wonder how this will affect everything here. And if there were gonna be others."

Fumu walked through the silent halls of Moon Villa, his footsteps echoing at the hardwood.

Standing by the entrance, he gazed at the lonesome moon above, slowly being surrounded by stars that glittered brightly.

He smiled at that and looked back at the villa. Before he came here, it was deserted, alone, abandoned.

Maybe there will be a time it will be like the moon too, surrounded by stars that shine brightly alongside it.
