As Belly and I scream the to Kim Petras, Mom speaks up, "Can you guys turn it down a little, please?"
"Yes, please," Steven says.
"Hey! I was really hitting those notes. But okay I see how it is, Stevie," I argue.
He rolls his eyes before Mom interceps our argument, "I want you guys to be better about helping out this summer. Like, don't just leave your dishes in the sink. Load them into the dishwasher. And not just your own dish either, Steven."
"What? But I..."
"I want you to be good houseguests."
"Mom, Susannah has people who clean, doesn't she?" Steven complains.
"Steven," Mom says sternly smacking him on the head. I snicker, but try to hide it with a cough so she doesn't do the same to me.
"Mom, you know I help clean up after breakfast and dinner all the time, right?" I say.
"Yes, but it's just you. So, just please do it, okay?" Which we respond in an 'okay, Mom' in unison. I look out the window and tune everything out.
My mom is weird about money. The fact that Susannah has a lot and we don't.
"Let's just be considerate and act like I raised you right. Steven and Liz, that means don't stay out too late."
"Mom, I'm too old for a curfew!" Steven complains yet again. I just stay silent and nod.
"Wait, what about me? I don't have a curfew either, right?" Belly asks.
Steven laughs, "What do you need a curfew for? You don't go anywhere."
"Ooo, can I?" I ask my Mom to which she nods. "Don't be a jackass, Steven." Belly grins at this.
"Belly, we'll talk about it when something comes up."
Belly scoffs. "Oh, and don't forget, you promised you'd take me driving." She says to Steven.
"Belly, I told you I'd take you," I say. (I have my driver's license, I just don't want to be the one to drive normally.)
"Yeah, but you're too judgy," she responds quietly.
