chapter 1

"are you serious? i'm not staying with him and that bitch!" i shouted to my mom.

"honey go pack, this is not up for discussion!" my mother said, walking over to the kitchen.

"fuck this!" i yelled as i walked to my room. it had been just me and my mom the past few years living in our penthouse. my parents got a divorce when i was 10 after my mother found out my dad was having an affair. me and my mom stayed in new york city while my dad moved to the beach with the girl. i had only visited them once when i was 11 and after that i never wanted to go back. i loved my dad but his new girlfriend was a bitch. and now my mom was telling me i had to stay with them all summer while she was away. this is going to be hell.

"Summer Nights" blasted in my ears as we pulled into the driveway of my dads house. it was huge. he must have upgraded. the music kept playing as the driver took my bags out of the trunk. i thanked him as he gave me all my bags and drove away. as i walked up the steps my dad opened the door and ran out to hug me.

"aubs you made it!" he said excited. "let me take these for you!" he was always so happy i don't know how. he took my bags and brought them inside. i held my purse on my arm as i walked in the door.

"smells good" i said plainly.

"lindsay is making you some cupcakes!" he said. i was so confused. i thought his girlfriends name was mary. i walked into the kitchen and saw someone who looked nothing like his old girlfriend. this girl was younger and looked fun.

"oh my gosh hi! i'm lindsay it's so nice to finally meet you!!" she said running up to hug me. i stood there confused for a second then she pulled away. "sorry was that too soon?" she said stepping back.

"aubrey this is lindsay! she's actually around your age." i was so confused now. was he dating this girl. "oh aubs don't worry we aren't a thing. she's mary's daughter" he told me.

"oh where's mary?" i asked trying to figure out the situation.

"she's going to be gone for the summer so it's just us three!" he said excited. "how about you go pack and me and lindsay will finish the cupcakes"

i walked upstairs to where he said my room would be. it was huge and it even had a balcony over looking the beach. i started unpacking and called my best friend from back home. i told her everything going on then i was called to go downstairs. when i got there we just decorated the cupcakes and ate dinner. lindsay was not that bad. i could get used to her.

i was finishing putting my clothes away when i heard a knock on my door.

"come in" i said and lindsay walked in and sat on my bed.

"any plans for tonight?" she asked me.

"not that i know of" i said as i finished unpacking.

"good because we are going somewhere!" she said walking out of the room. "dress cute!" she yelled from down the hall. i just put on some jean shorts and a cute top not knowing what we were doing. "come on we're gonna be late!" she yelled to me.

"okay okay i'm coming! where are we going anyways." i said walking out the door and into her convertible.

"to have some fun!" she said speeding down the road.
