"Eleanor, we must leave now." Chase says, knocking on the door.
"Ok, I'll be out in a minute." I call out, finishing the last knot of my dress.
So much has happened in the past month, so much that I don't remember the last time I had really relaxed.
Oh... yes, that's when, when I was with my mate, Orson.
It feels so long ago now since I've seen his face, but everywhere I go I hear his name, and if I never left his pack grounds I never would've known how truly amazing my mate is.
This past month I have pushed myself more than ever, I have now harnessed the power of my mother, my true mother, with the help of Chase, who has been by my side the past month, since leaving Orson.
I look in the mirror now and don't recognize myself, I look strong, confident and older, wiser, my hair changed color during the transition into Alpifilas, something that also happened to my mother, Citri.
White, the color of Alpifilas, it all seems so silly now, the way Orson described it... if only he could see what I could do now, with the real power of my family line, something that had been tainted through time, with false lies for other families to gain power.
Alpifilas is not a curse, it's a family with a long line of descendants that harnessed the power of light, the house Alpifilas ruled these lands for centuries before the Carmines betrayed my mother's house.
The key June had left me... that was my real identity, hidden away in the box of Alpifilas, that contained the last of my history, hidden away in the palace of Carmine.
Cowards!
The house Carmine had captured my family for years to come after betraying the house Alpifilas, imprisoning them in the palace itself, as they play the role of 'King' and 'Queen', until my mother escaped, and used what little magic she had left to protect me.
Theirs a knock at the door again, and I know it's Orson, from his scent.
"Eleanor?" His worried voice calls out again.
I roll my eyes and walk over to the door, unlock it and then open it.
Chase stands tall, dressed in his uniform with his sword in hand alert, and looking around the room for an invisible intruder.
"Put that away." I tell him, trying not to laugh.
He furrows his brows and puts his sword away on his belt. "We need to leave, patrol got word that someone spotted us hear and alerted the kings guard."
I swear out and grab my bag by the door, before I leave the room I stand still and remember the words in my head for the spell to conceal my scent, once I have it in my head, I mutter the words under my breath.
'𝔐𝔞𝔦 𝔨𝔦 𝔩𝔦𝔤𝔥𝔱, 𝔞𝔫𝔥𝔞 𝔷𝔦𝔫 𝔳𝔬 𝔞𝔩𝔦𝔨𝔥'
(Mother of light, I am no more)
I open my eyes, and see Chase nod his head as he closes the door before we make our way outside of the inn we stayed in, then we both head in the direction of where our horses were, and the rest of our group.
Up ahead, I can see the horses ready by the backroad of the inn, an off-trail most wouldn't track, making it the safest way to travel in Edath.
"About time sleeping beauty." Lerok says, on top of his horse, grinning.
I ignore him and jump up on my horse. "How long do we have?" I ask Aron, our scout.
