Deciding not to waste any time, the Adventurer asked the Viera for their help. Kaine's smile shifted to a frown as he crossed his arms, seemingly displeased with the request.
"Oh, now you wish to speak with me? Couldn't be bothered to even look in my direction before, but now that ye need sumthin' out of me-" The Viera scolded. The Adventurer took a moment to wonder if there was any merit in their hostile reaction. How many others had they not so much as said hello to unless it was in the name of some quest or other spot of bother. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the Viera laughing.
"I only jest, friend! Oh to see the look upon your face. Priceless!" the Viera exclaimed, now beaming. "Anyroad, what is it you needed of me?"
Though somewhat dejected by Kaine's performance, the Adventurer decided to explain their current predicament...
Kaine stood with his hand on his chin, taking in the details of the Adventurer's story.
"By the Fury... To think the Garleans would be so bold..." The Viera then lowered his hand back to his side. "Terribly sorry you went through all that. Couldn't imagine enduring such a tragedy meself." He then raised his hand a little as he spoke. "Sorry about my earlier japes, I had no idea the situation was so dire. But I'm not sure I understand why you're telling me all this. Far as I can tell this 'as little to do with me."
The Adventurer then explained the current situation involving Lord Francel.
"Oh, you're looking for information. Well I can't say I know anything, but I might know a lad or two I can speak with." The Viera rubbed the back of his neck a little. "Course if anyone finds out I'm questioning the decision of the inquisitors I'll no doubt be branded a heretic as well..." Kaine lamented with a shrug before pointing towards a building not far from them. "Still, I can't allow a fellow Ishgardian to be falsely charged, assuming you're right and he is innocent." He pointed at the Adventurer lightly before speaking again. "Do what you must, and meet me back here when you are done. Hopefully I'll have something of use to clear Lord Francel's name."
The Adventurer thanked the Viera, though they raised their hand afterwards dismissively.
"No thanks needed. We're friends, after all. Got to look out for one another, eh?"
While friend may have been a strong word, any ally would be a welcome one as of late. For now, once speaking with Ninne, the Adventurer would have to travel back down to the Skyfire Locks and the Observatorium to speak with the others Haurchefant had instructed them to meet. So the two parted ways, the Adventurer inside, while Kaine headed west.
