Right now more than ever seemed like a time when she should be using her brain, but she was in such a state of shock and denial that she couldn't seem to move her body at all. Maybe she was thinking, but each thought went by so fast that she couldn't catch up to any of them.

"Do it, you stupid girl!" Travis yelled at Laura.

Oh yeah, that's right. I'm supposed to kill this poor boy.

There was no time for sympathy. Not after the last two months. Killing Silas would be saving Max and everyone else who had ever been bit by a werewolf. She raised her gun pointing right at the injured werewolf's back. Even after everything that had happened, she had a moment of hesitation. This werewolf was also a person. All she could do was try to push that thought down, because in the end, ending his life would save more people. There was no way of ending this continuous peril without feeling awful, she just had to get this over with to save everyone now, and in the possible future.

One shot and it's all over.

Laura pulled the trigger.

Just like that, it was done. Two months of agony, just waiting for a chance to do anything, and now it was done. She was so shocked it took her a moment to put the gun down and fully take in what this all meant.

"It's... is it... does this mean... it's over?" Laura asked turning slowly to Travis.

"Well, the werewolf part is over, but now we have to find everyone else, deal with the corpses, explain this to the police, figure out what to do with the camp-"

"God, please, Travis shut up. I'm done with worrying for a good week," Ryan hurriedly cut off Travis, Who stopped with a sigh.

"Can we go back...?" Laura asked Travis who seemed to be rooted to the spot where he stood.

"Oh- uh... Yeah, I guess we have to, yeah... let's worry about Silas later," Travis said almost smiling a little. Laura had never seen him smile before.

She noticed the glossy film over both Travis and Ryan's eyes and realized that she wasn't the only one trying desperately to hold back tears. She wasn't really sure why she felt like crying but at the same time, she knew exactly why. It had been a tough night, a lot had happened, and now it was all so suddenly over. They all had a sudden release of all the more complicated feelings that the adrenaline and fear had been holding back all night.

To Laura's surprise, Travis was able to start up the car just like normal, even though they had just been driving with an aggressive werewolf companion. No one spoke a single word the whole way back to camp, they were all too shaken up. The only sounds were that of the car, which was struggling to keep moving, and Ryan sitting behind Laura. She could tell that he was crying, but he seemed to be trying to play it off as just sniffling from a runny nose.

"I'll leave you guys here," Travis broke the silence as the car stopped at the lodge, "I'm going back home, but you guys probably don't want to talk to the people who were just trying to kill you a moment ago do ya."

Laura opened the door but she hesitated to hop out. She almost left without saying anything to him, but that didn't feel right, "Thanks I guess... for... not killing me... I guess."

"No problem..." Travis said sounding a little shocked.

Why did she just say that? Travis was the one who had locked them up, and he did almost kill her more than once. I guess it's just hard to hate someone who's had to deal with this shit for six years when I couldn't handle it for just two months, Laura thought as she hopped out and slammed the door behind her.

She couldn't bring herself to turn around and watch Travis leave, she couldn't even bring herself to look at Ryan. God damn it, I can't crack now, it's not over, I have to find Max... Oh yeah... Max! The tears that had been pushing at the back of her eyes suddenly vanished at that thought. Max was probably waiting for her on the Island! She could see Max again! Human Max, not werewolf Max.
