Sunhee never cried.
Instead, her lifeless body was laid on white cushion, inside a small white casket. The earth welcomed her just as a dark hole in the ground did. Her permanent home.
The pain was unexplainable, tugging at his chest with loss and hatred. When you awoke, in the safety of an unrecognizable home - unaware of what had happened, he kept quiet for a few seconds, unable to voice what he knew would break you.
Your brows had furrowed in confusion when you caught sight of his tears. "Yoongi? What's wrong?"
There was silence and then the truth.
You chuckled, denial in your mind. It was only human to deny, but when you saw his tears, your... stomach where she was supposed to be, and when you felt the physical pain, you understood that his words were completely true. "No." You breathed, "No, but why - I we - we were fine, you said we were safe! We were always safe!"
Yoongi failed to calm you, calling for the nurse when he finally held you down in order for her shaking hand to insert the tranquilizer into your veins. Once your eyes fluttered shut, he slumped to the ground, defeated as the woman stitched you up once again, bowing and stepping out of the room.
Your actions were unexpected when you awoke again. You laid there, still, - frozen. The woman that you once were disappeared, and an unfamiliar one took shape, gazing into nothing, in a trance. It would soon come to the conclusion that you were in your own world, 'Catatonic' as the doctor called it, the pain of your daughter passing was just too much to bear.
And while you kept your pain, Yoongis' vanished and a burning fury took over. It burned bright with a wish to see all those that turned his life upside down, dead because everyone now was his enemy.
Though he was an impatient man, he waited. Planning his vengeance with time.
The ones who were in his home those months ago, planning on taking him in cuffs, alive, he found them, getting rid of them one by one with his power. But he was hungry, starving for the man who was the face of the operation, who had destroyed his life, and on one fortunate day, his wishes came true.
He had the man shackled, beaten until he could no longer see from an eye, enjoying with wicked happiness the man's suffering. He would cry for mercy, begging for forgiveness, but he understood that there was a code between the lowlives he worked against.
Family is sacred and you never, ever bring family into whatever conflict ensued.
It made sense, even to the men of the underworld because despite being monsters, they had someone they loved with everything they had.
"How are you feeling Minho? Still got fight left in you?" Jungkook commented, lighting the cigarette between his lips. "You look like shit, have I told you that?"
"When are you going to kill me?" Minho wheezed, looking at the tattooed man that stood proudly before him.
"Oh, that's not up to me, but if I were you, I would make myself comfortable because I'm sure you'll be here for a very, very long time. But who knows, maybe Yoongi will take pity on you and take you out of your misery." Jungkook shrugged. "Doubt it though."
"I know you." Minho sniffled, groaning at the searing pain in his arms. "I've read your file. Orphaned at fifteen right? Yoongi took you in -"
"Don't." Jungkook snapped. "Don't try to get inside my head, it won't work."
Minho's head shook. "I'm not. Just trying to make conversation. I - you remind me of someone, a friend. You're loyal and I respect that, but you're loyal to the wrong man, Jeon, to the wrong people. You have to know that, right?"
Jungkook chuckled, exhaling the cigarette smoke into a suffocating cloud that caused the man on the ground to cough violently. "You know, I never understood you people - I mean the ones who work against us, the ones who work for the government? You all like to act like your good, little angels, but we know better. Tell me, Minho, how many people have you killed? How many people did your dead colleagues take with them? You think you're better than us because the government allows you to kill? Please, -" He scoffed, "- give me a fucking break."
"We only kill those who retaliate. I -"
"You killed a baby girl and injured a woman. What you did Minho?" Jungkook crouched in front of the captured man, grasping his face in his tattooed one. "Not even God could forgive that."
He released him, raising his hand to see the time on his watch. "Boss is on his way. Everyone out."
"But Junkook, Mr. Min orde-" One of the men, in charge of keeping Minho 'safe' replied, worried for punishment that was sure to come if he did not follow orders.
"Out, I said. All of you."
They all nodded, making their way out of the dark basement one by one.
"Want a pill?" He asked, ruffling through the pockets of his jeans. Although he did not want to admit, Jungkook was considerate when he wanted to be, holding back his hits whenever he thought Minho had enough pain for the day, and sneaking him the drugs he abused, taking away his pain even if it was just for a while.
"Yes, please." Jungkook unwrapped the napkin, popping a pill between Minho's swollen, purple lips. "Thank you." He gulped as Jungkook wrapped the napkin back into place. Minho tightly shut his eyes once he heard the door open and footsteps coming down into his hell.
"Yoongi." Jungkook welcomed. "I assume everything went well?"
"Oh, yes of course." Yoongi replied, getting rid of his expensive suit jacket, discarding it into Jungkook's waiting hands. He unbuttoned his cuffs, folding them against his forearms. "I was told information that brought me such joy to me. Can you believe that?" His tone was kind, but his eyes were anything but, staring with malice at the beaten man.
"Yeah, I did." He muttered, snatching the cigarette from Jungkook's lips to press it against Minhos' cheek. "It's amazing what the human body can endure, don't you think so Minho? But what about the mind? How long will it take for me to break you and finally see you shed a tear?"
"Go to hell, you sick son of a bitch."
"Very well then, -" Yoongi shrugged. "-, you won't mind me taking your family with me don -"
"You let them be!" He shouted, "You let them be! They're innocent, please, PLEASE!" His voice increased seeing his wife and child on the illumined screen that Yoongi held in his hand.
"There it is! The tears I so desperately wanted to see. Didn't take long enough." The hit was, of course expected, but it still caught him by surprise, causing him to gasp and spit out his tooth.
"Don't worry Choi Minho, you'll be reunited with them soon." Yoongi spat, "Remember what I told you? You'll never be free of me, I'll make sure of it. Once I'm done with your little family, I'll take you out and after that? You'll go straight to hell when even then I'll follow you. I'll be your own fucking devil."
