Kassvin. All he had on him were bloodstained clothes and a backpack. As he was taken to the infirmary he kept saying things that didn't make any sense. Normal as far as concussions go.
'Yo, the grim reaper slid into my DMs!' Was Valkyons favourite, but he'll never tell that to anyone.
The healers suspected that it's from brain damage since this rambling hadnt stopped yet. It gets exponentially worse with the painkillers too.
Of course, Valkyon could understand him somewhat. A feat noone else could achieve thus far, and it seemed that Kassvin took a liking to him because of it.
He spent a lot of time with the amnesiac, he confessed to his friends that he feels bad for leaving the poor guy alone because he reminds Valkyon of someone who's no longer here. And he's the only person who can tell the difference between his regular rambling and the drug induced gibberish.
He spent a lot of time with Kass, even if it hurt him, even if Kassvin hurt him... They went on little adventures so he didn't stay cooped up in the infirmary for days, he hated being there. Always on edge and anxious about all those people he could recognise.
Kass barely remembers the last meal he had on some days...
The beach is his least favourite place to visit yet they always end up going there, Valky deemed they forest way too risky. 'no, you're going to wander off and I'll never find you again. I'm not going to let that happen!' his reasoning.
Beach it is, then.
"Me." Kass said, pointing at a small pebble in the sand. He has a habit to speak as oversimplified as possible, still hard to understand but what is Valkyon if not an expert at 'if few word gud why many word'.
"Me." Valkyon said, pointing at a bigger pebble right next to it. Kass cracked up at that, covering his nose. The amnesiac lost none of his quirky expressions, who knows why he felt that his nose should be covered when he laughs.
The warrior smiles, it's a nice moment of lucidity. The golden hour when all the pain is dulled but the nightmare hasn't started.
He's almost completely here..... Like a normal person who dosen't live on painkillers.
Kassvin fell to his knees trying to retrieve the stones, Val following him to the ground, perhaps a bit too worried.
Kass picked the smaller one up. "it's coz I'm short, innit?"
"Don't take it to heart." Valkyon picked the other pebble up, revealing that it was actually bigger under the sand than it seemed.
"The universe is trying to tell me something about you......." Kassvin said, snickering.
"Snitches get stitches, universe!" Val laughed too. "Mood." He pointed at the dried up corpse of a beached jellyfish. Dark jokes are both of their favorite.
Kassvin let out a hearty cackle, then his expression turned completely blank.
This usually marks the beginning of the nightmare. The painkillers have a major side effect, they cause these episodes where Kass isn't there at all. But no matter what he says, how much he yells or how many times he hits Valkyon, the warrior refuses to leave. Even if it hurts, he refuses to abandon Kassvin at the darkest hour.
As he looked into those deep green irises he saw something change. It seemed like the light of recognition flashed in his eyes.
"I remember." Valkyon was caught off guard, he was expecting a breakdown..."I think I remembered something...." But instead got a ray of hope that Kassvin will regain everything he's lost.
