"Oh my God, Chris!" Camila exclaimed, opening the small jewelry box she had just unwrapped. Inside, she found a beautiful diamond necklace. The diamonds were all shaped as hearts. "This is beautiful!"

"So are you, mi amor," Chris kissed Camila's head. "Happy birthday." He smiled.

"Thank you." Camila leaned up, kissing him gently.

"Alright, my turn." Lauren spoke up, clearing her throat. Camila looked her way, smiling softly. "Here, happy birthday, Camz." Lauren handed her a small box. Inside, was an Ed Sheeran vinyl.

"Lauren! Thank you!" She smiled, taking out the vinyl.

"That's, uh, not it." Camila furrowed her eyebrows but looking back in the box. An envelope. Once she opened that, she found two tickets. "Ed Sheeran tickets?" She asked, looking back up at Lauren, who nodded with a smile. "But, they were sold out."

"The Miami show was. The one in Tampa, however..."

"Lauren..." Camila bit her lip through a smile. "Thank you."

"Of course, Camz." Lauren smiled back, probably longer than someone was supposed to smile at their brother's girlfriend. "Since it's like three and a half hours away, I uh, booked a hotel for us. I figured we could make a weekend out of it."

"Yeah, Lauren asked if she could steal you for a weekend. I thought it would be nice for you to take some time away and relax." Chris added, placing his hand on Camila's thigh.

"Well, thank you." Camila smiled up at him. "And thank you, Lo. Seriously."

"You're welcome, Camz."

————

"Lo?" Camila asked, knocking on Lauren's door. "Can I come in?"

"Of course." Lauren called out. Camila opened the door and slipped inside, closing it behind her.  "I figured you'd be asleep. It's..." She looked at the digital clock beside her bed. "Almost two in the morning."

"I know, but, I knew you'd be up reading. And I wanted to thank you."

"You already thanked me."

"I know...but I wanted to give you a special thank you." Camila smirked, slowly pulling down the strap of the silk negligee. She bit her lip, loving how Lauren immediately closed her book and sat up straighter.

"O-oh...okay then." Lauren swallowed harshly, staring at Camila as she moved painfully slowly.

Just as the silk fabric was almost passed Camila's nipple, there was another knock on the door. She pulled the fabric back up just as quickly as Lauren pulled a pillow over her lap.

The door opened and Chris poked his head in. His hair was messy, and he was in sleep pants with no shirt. "There you are, babe. I woke up and you were gone, I was confused." Lauren almost rolled her eyes. Could Chris be any more needy? Then again, it could just be her hormones talking.

"Yeah, I was just thanking Lauren again."
Camila smiled. The ease in which she was able to lie almost scared Lauren.

"Oh, okay." He stood there, clearly waiting for her to come back to bed with him.

"Uh, goodnight, Lo," Camila turned to her and smiled. Before she left, she mouthed 'I'm sorry'. Lauren was sorry too.

The next day, Chris had found Lauren sitting out back by the pool. "I thought you were working today," he said, sitting beside her.

"Nah, they said they didn't need me." She replied, not moving from her spot. Ray-Ban sunglasses covered her eyes.

"Well, I just wanted to thank you for how you've welcomed Mila." She could hear Chris' smile even if she couldn't see him. "I know it was pretty weird that I asked you to hang out with her."

"No, it's cool." Lauren pushed her sunglasses up, her hair getting pushed back as well. "I really enjoy spending time with her. She's become my best friend."

"I'm glad to hear it. When we moved here, she was really worried about making friends again. She's not the most social," they both laughed light heartedly. After a few beats of silence, Chris spoke up again. "So, since you two are so close...can I ask you something?"

Lauren gulped. She didn't know what to expect. Surely, if he knew what Lauren and Camila were doing he'd be more upset, right? "Uh, sure, yeah."

"Has she said anything to you? Like, about me?"

"Like what?"

"Like, have I don't something wrong?" He asked vulnerably. "She's just been acting weird lately. More distant. I just didn't know if she told you something."

"Uh, no. She hasn't." Obviously, Lauren knew why she was distant and it hurt to know she was the cause. She didn't care before, back when she didn't think Chris would be affected. Lauren had figured she'd be helping their relationship, keeping Camila satisfied. With Camila satisfied in the one relationship area she was unhappy with, surely the rest of their relationship would thrive. "Why don't you ask her if something is wrong?" She asked, hoping it didn't come across wrong.

"Because what if there is?" He smiled sadly.

Lauren knew what she had to do. She couldn't—and wouldn't—let a girl come between her and her brother. Besides, she was just hooking up with her. They could go back to being friends, easy.

So, what Camila came home from work, Lauren whisked her away. She pulled her into her bedroom, ensuring their privacy. "Well, hello," Camila smirked. "What a way to come home." She draped her hands over Lauren's shoulders.

"No, I didn't—I didn't pull you in here to..."

"Oh..." Camila retracted her arms. "Then, what's up?"

"I talked to Chris today," Lauren sighed, sitting on the edge of her bed. "He's hurting, Camz. You've been distant and he can tell."

"Why didn't he come to me?" Camila followed and sat beside her.

"Because he's scared there's something wrong. He loves you and he doesn't want to lose you."

"Nothing's wrong though."

"Really?" Lauren scoffed. "What's wrong is you're fucking his sister."

"Don't you dare put all the blame on me."

"I'm not! It's just..." Lauren sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "I can't keep doing this when it's hurting him."

"You didn't seem to care before." Camila crossed her arms.

"Yeah, that's when I thought he wouldn't be affected. But now he is."

"So, what? We're done?" Camila was still clearly upset.

"Sleeping together? Yeah. We can still be friends though. Like we were before." Lauren sat back down.

"We were never just friends, Lauren." Camila's voice fell.

"Of course we were. We haven't always been hooking up."

"No, but can you seriously tell me you only saw me as a friend before?" Lauren stayed silent. "Exactly." Camila sighed, grabbing Lauren's hand. She gave her a sad smile. "I'd never force you to do something you don't want to. If you want to stop, then we stop." With one last smile, she stood and left the room.
