The closer Camila got to the house, the worse her anxiety got. She could feel it taking her over like a tidal wave over a sailboat.

Three weeks ago, Lauren broke things off with her and since then, Camila has been trying to talk to her. But, even getting her alone for five minutes was proving to be impossible. Lauren seemed to never be home when Camila was. Somehow, she managed to schedule everything opposite to Camila.

The only thing Camila knew was that Lauren was currently seeing someone new. From what she heard, it's not too serious. Probably just a distraction.

As Camila opens the door, her eye catches Lauren's car parked off to the side of the house.

She's home.

Quickly, Camila opens the door and hurries inside, eager to finally talk to Lauren. Especially now.

Fortunately, Lauren wasn't too hard to find.

Unfortunately, Lauren wasn't alone.

There, giggling away on the couch, was Lauren and her friend. They were whispering to each other and exchanging small kisses. Lauren's hand was resting on the girl's crossed legs as they leaned into each other.

"You couldn't find a room or something?" Camila snapped.

Both Lauren and her friend looked up in surprise.

"I thought you were gonna be out." Was all Lauren said.

"Well, you thought wrong." Camila gave a sickly sweet smile before rushing upstairs.

She paced the room, trying to calm her racing thoughts. Obviously she knows how she reacted was uncalled for. But she hasn't been able to speak to Lauren for weeks and the first time she can—and needs too—Lauren is fucking around with her little...fling.

Still, storming off like that was a little over dramatic and if Camila knows Lauren at all, then—

"Knock, knock."

—she'll come check on her.

Camila turns around to face Lauren.

"You had no right to say what you did." She was leaning against the door frame, her arms crossed, and a smug smirk plastered on her face.

"I know."

"We're broken up."

"I know."

"Then why did you—"

"Because seeing you with someone else hurts, whether we're together or not." Camila snapped.

"You don't say? Wow, I wonder what that's like." Lauren raised her eyebrows, her smirk finally gone.

Camila shook her head and looked up at the ceiling. Releasing a sigh, she sat down on her bed and laid back, her knees dangling off the side.

Lauren pushed off the door frame and did the same.

"Can you see a future for us?" Camila asked quietly after a few moments.

"We're not together so—"

"I mean if we didn't break up."

"Well, you'd never leave Chris—"

"What if I did?"

Lauren remained silent for a minute.

"But we both know you won't." Lauren stood. "So, no. I don't see a future for us." She started towards the doorway but was stopped when Clara stepped in her way, seemingly scaring the ever-loving shit out of Lauren. "Christ, mom!"

Camila had to stifle a giggle.

"Sorry," Clara chuckled. "I met Lucy downstairs. I invited her over for dinner."

"Oh...we can't. We have plans tonight."

"That's what she told me. But she said you're free tomorrow." Clara winked at her daughter and Camila's chest tightened. "We all want to get to know her, what's a better time than dinner with the whole family?"

Lauren forced a smile.

Camila forced back tears.
