Bonnie opened her eyes and I breathed a sigh of relief. My best friend wasn't dead. My baby girl wasn't dead. Damon wasn't dead. I wasn't dead. Stephan's humanity was back on. Life could go back to normal.

*19 years later*

"Happy birthday Lily!" We all yelled as she walked into our living room. That was now owned by Jenna and Alaric so there was still protection from vampires. They had been married for a long while, and they had two children before having Damon turn them into vampires. The kids were now 10 and 8. We had decided that as soon as our kids had turned 19, we would either turn them, or compel them to leave. It would be their decision. But Mystic Falls was way too dangerous for humans to live in. A lot of the population had been turned, and the humans that were there had to be compelled often to forget about us.

Nearly everyone was a vampire now. Me, Damon, Stephan, Caroline, Sherriff Forbes, Jenna, Alaric, Bonnie, Matt, and Tyler was a hybrid. Since tonight was Lily's 19th birthday, she was going to make her choice in front of everyone. If she was joining our vampire family or being compelled to leave and forget about us forever.

Damon and I were a mess. We were far to preoccupied with her choice to even plan her party. It's a good thing I had Caroline. She had been decorating the house all day, baking the cake that was somehow going to be three layers and be infused with blood. Unfortunatley, if Lily decied to leave, she wouldn't even get to taste her own cake.

"How are you holding up?" Caroline stopped decorating for a few seconds to hug me.

"I'm ok. Caroline, I know I said earlie that I would compel her to leave myself, but if that's what she chooses, can you please do it? I don't think there's any way I'll be able to do it myself," I said. She nodded.

So here we were, Lily walking into her party, a grim look on her face that made my heart sink and my stomach clench. I looked at Damon, and he looked just as concerned as i did.

"Have you made your choice?" Jenna asked, as the oldest female in the room.

"I have," Lily said, right as Klaus walked in. I looked at him, a little confused, then watched as he walked over to Caroline and sat down next to her. Tyler looked pissed about it.

"I invited Klaus. I hope you don't mind. He's kind of my boyfriend, so..." Caroline said, trailing off.

"It's fine," i said, my voice a little husky.

"Alright. Let's continue," Jenna said. Everyone could tell that Damon and I were nervous, and the room was tense.

"My descision is to leave. To forget everything," Lily said.

And my heart sank.

And my stomach clenched tighter.
