"C'mon dad, it's not good to work so late." y/n walked the king to his room, the king was really bad at hiding his fatigue.

"It's not that late," The king yawned. "Not as late as you staying up at least." He gave a tired smile, opening his bedroom door.

"Yeah yeah, but you work all day, and me? Not so much." y/n let out a small laugh. "Now go get some shut eye, I'm sure that you have a long day of work ahead of you."

"Good night, y/n."

"Night, dad." The princess slowly shut the king's door, now heading for her room, as she was a bit tired herself. Though the sudden clutter she heard from behind her door made her stop for a moment. What in the world..? y/n slowly and silently turned the knob on the door, gently opened the door, and peeked inside. "Uhh... What are you doing in my room?"

There stood the red-haired boy, holding a paper, seemingly about to set the thin sheet on y/n's pillow. "Oh, you're here," He stood back up normally. "Guess I won't be needing this then." He crumpled up the piece of paper, placing it in his pocket.

"Yeah. I'm here. It's my room. Anyways what are ya doin' here? What was that paper about?" y/n walked over to him and tried reaching into his pocket, but her hand was rejected by a slap.

"I thought you would be out so I was going to leave you a note, but since you're here I can just say it."

"And that would be?" y/n did a 'go on' type of hand gesture.

"Well since you proposed that we 'start over', I thought that a proper way to do so would be to 'hang out', as some'd say."

"Issat all you wrote on the paper?"

"..Yes."

"Then how come I couldn't've just read that?"

"I JUST- Because you're here now. Like I said." He folded his arms, trying his best not to get irritated.

"You sure there wasn't anything you didn't want me to read? Hmmm? Had second thoughts? Hmmm?"

"YES I'M SURE, I-"

"I know I know, I was just messing with you." y/n snickered.

Red's eye twitched, then he continued. "So, is that a yes or no?"

"Yeahh, sounds like a plan. What time though?"

"About 6 pm tomorrow, at the park."

"Ehh I dunno, that's kind of dinner time-"

"Wh- Fine, then 8!"

"Hmm... Yeah, that works."

"Good. I will see you then." The boy turned 180 and went for the window.

"See ya, Red Boy."

"It's Red Son, you-" Before he could finish, he lost balance and fell out the window.

y/n held in her laughter and went to look out the window. Red Son was standing back up, dusting some dirt off himself. "You okay down there?" y/n called. Red looked up and growled in response, then created a fire around himself and in the next second, he was gone.

***

It was the next day, nearing close to 8:00. Red Son stood by the entrance of the park, tapping his foot against the pavement. He wore his normal clothes, but his jacket was tied around his waist. Where is that lightning girl? it's 7:58! Does she have no sense of punctuation? The boy looked at his watch impatiently, then back at the streets. No sign of the princess. A few minutes pass, and the prince grumbles. It's 8:01, where is she? Did she lie?! Well if she's not coming, I'm not staying!

Red Son turned in the other direction, being caught off guard by the princess. She wore that same hoodie from their first interaction, and her hair was pulled up in a ponytail. "Jumpy are we?"

"I-uh-wuh- Lightning girl! I thought we agreed on 8'o'clock!"

"Yeah, we did. But you didn't say sharp or anything. So I'm on time."

"I... Guess that's true." He looked to the ground, then back up to meet y/n's eyes. "Then let's get going." Red Son turned back to the park, beginning to walk, with y/n following by his side.

"Soo... What were you doing walking around the city like a dead guy?"

Red scolded the princess. "If you must know, I... Didn't really. Feel like going back home just yet..."

"And why's that?"

"Because of you."

"Aww, couldn't just leave me could y-"

"Cut it with the cheesy stuff! I had told my parents prior to the parade that I'd best you and your father... But you know how that turned out... And I'm not ready to face them, not now at least..."

"Oh... Uh... My bad. Have you gone home at all yet since the bus accident?"

"I thought about it once, but no, I haven't." He looked down at the path they walked.

"That would explain the smell-" y/n joked.

"I'll have you know I've bathed EVERYDAY eve-"

"Hey hey, I was just trying to lighten the mood!" y/n grinned.

Red Son rolled his eyes with a small smirk. "You're not very good at it."

"Is that why you're smiling?"

"Wh- Am not!" Red Son hid the smile with a scowl.

"Are too!" y/n laughed, as the two went on and on for a while.

Continuing to walk through the park, Red Son and y/n talked and talked about their lives, like hobbies and foods and whatnot, as well as have silly arguments about spices and if water was wet. After an hour or so, the two sat down on a bench, looking at the pond as the moon shined its rays upon it.

"Y'know... It was nice to hang out with you." y/n stared out at the pond, seeming memorized from its quiet ripples.

"I... Can say the same... I don't really 'hang out' with others so to say, but it was a nice change of pace." Red Son looked down at his hands, a smile forming on his face. He looked to y/n, she finally took her eyes off the pond and looked into his. He looked away again, then untied his jacket from his waist, putting it on the correct way. "Well, I guess I should be going then." He stood up from the bench, starting to walk away.

"Are you gonna go home?"

"...I guess it wouldn't hurt to try... Goodbye, y/n." He continued his walk out of the park.

y/n smiled softly, then looked to the bench where he sat. Is that... The paper from yesterday? Guess he really hasn't been home. She gently took the crumpled paper and unfolded it to take a look at the contents. There were a lot of things scribbled out but there were a few sentences left alone.

Dear princess,

I think you're pretty neat (though a tad annoying...) and wanted to know if you would give me the honor of being able to 'hang out' as some would say. Let me know as soon as you can please and thank you.

Y̷o̷u̷r̷s̷ ̷t̷r̷u̷l̷y̷  S̷i̷n̷c̷e̷r̷e̷l̷y̷ ̷y̷o̷u̷r̷s̷   Best regards,

Red Son

y/n's smile brightened. What a goofball.
