As the rain had finally settled down as you exited your work building. Perfect timing, you thought, as you had forgotten to bring your umbrella. After a stressful day at your job, you decided to go for a walk to clear your mind.
There was something nostalgic about the familiar scent in the air after a rain. The overcast sky also gave the impression that it was much later, so the streetlamps lit up early. The reflection of the lights on the pavement was like something out of an oil painting. Yes, this stroll was the perfect way to relieve the stress you had accumulated. After hours of your crabby boss breathing down your neck, your pretentious coworkers looking down on you, and entitled customers yelling at you, you really needed this. This pseudo night was a reward for your unappreciated hard work. You closed your eyes, inhaled the sweet, warm scent of the air, and felt glad to be alive.
Then you stepped in a puddle, soaking your shoe to your sock.

Chibita had grumbled to himself while wiping clean some of the sextuplet's leftover cups. Those assholes seldom paid their tabs. He suddenly snapped out of his frustrated trance as he noticed a customer had entered his stand. This was when Chibita first met you.
Your attractiveness certainly caught Chibita's attention, but if it hadn't, the exasperated sigh you let out as you took your seat would have.
"Rough day?" Chibita asked, polishing up a glass and placing it on the counter.
You used two fingers and rubbed them in between your eyebrows, attempting to alleviate a headache, "Work sucks."
"You can say that again," Chibita chuckled. "Lucky for you, you've stopped at the world's best oden stall!"
As Chibita served you your dinner, the two of you engaged in conversation. You went back and forth talking about stories from work and the worst customers you had to deal with. This was when Chibita brought up the Matsuno brothers. When he mentioned they were sextuplets, you nearly choked on your food.
"Wait," you said after you managed to swallow the mouthful of oden. "So there are six of them?"
"Six shitty identical idjits," nodded Chibita. "If you don't believe me, they visit here pretty often."
"Damn, I mean, I've met twins before, even triplets. But sextuplets? That's crazy!"
"The REAL crazy part is how big of dicks they are," Chibita scoffed. "Even as a kid, I couldn't stand 'em."
"You guys go way back, huh?"
Chibita felt a small smile creep on his lips. As much as it embarrassed him to admit it, he did kind of see the sextuplets as friends. Shitty, annoying, irresponsible bastards of friends.
You placed a generous tip on the counter as you stood up, "Thank you for the meal! You were right about it being the best oden in the world!"
"Thank you for the company," Chibita responded.
As you turned to leave, you noticed the rain began to pick back up. "Shit."
"What's the matter?"
You gestured to the rain outside, "This has been a lousy day to forget my umbrella."
"Here," Chibita placed an umbrella on the counter.
"Oh no. I couldn't possibly."
"You left a substantial tip!" Chibita smiled. "Don't worry about it."
You hesitantly took the umbrella. "Say, I never got your name."
"It's Chibita."
"I'm y/n," you smiled. "Thank you, Chibita! You're a good guy! I'll be sure to return your umbrella!"
Once Chibita was alone with nothing but the sound of the rain tapping at the roof of his stand and steam coming from the food, he let your words echo through his words. A good guy? This was a fact that even Chibita himself forgot. Those words made him feel all fuzzy on the inside, kind of like that in that trailer in that movie about the wolf guy developing a praise kink.
As the time to close up shop drew near, and the rain had not let up, it had begun to dawn on Chibita that he had lent his umbrella to a charming stranger. He cursed at himself for being bewitched so easily.
In spite of his own frustration, he found himself looking forward to your next visit.
