The girls arrive at the entrance of the Great Hall. All the first years were starstruck with our beautiful the castle was. Candles were floating from the ceiling, illuminating the castle. Ghosts were roaming the corridors. I've never seen a ghost in real life before. I would of have thought ghosts were evil but these ghosts were friendly. Except for Peeves. No one likes Peeves. As soon as we enter the castle, some of the first years played a huge role in one of Peeves' prank. Their freshly new robes were now covered in water and flour. Thanks to Professor McGonagall, their robes were brand new once more.
Draco, of course, was surrounded with friends. I witnessed him trying to become friends with the famous Harry Potter, which I still could not figure out what the big deal was with him. Draco was being his usual self and Harry was just simply not having it. I became a fan of his instantly. Draco walks towards Cass and I. "Stick with me ladies and you won't have any problems."
"I believe I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks." I mimic Harry Potter. Draco scowled and turn on his heel. "And this is why our family has nothing do with you." He spat, walking away. To be honest, it hurt me. I knew I wasn't liked, but I also didn't like hearing it out loud from someone else either.
Professor McGonagall motion us first years to walk in a single file line inside the Great Hall. The ceiling was enchanted to look like the night sky. It was breathtaking. Four long tables were lined up across the floor. I would assume it was for each of the four houses.
"Alright students, as I call your name, you will come forward and I shall place the Sorting Hat above your head and you'll be sorted into your houses."
"Hermione Granger!" The girl sighed nervously. She began chatting herself up as she walks up to the stool to sit down. "Just relax" she said. I smile to myself, thinking of what the twins would say. "Breathe in, breathe out. Just all down."
"Ahhh right there. Hmm.. right Okay. GRYFFINDOR!" The students cheer as Hermione hopped off the stool and smile as she walks towards the Gryffindors. The students at the table wore their burgundy red colors proud. I imagine myself wearing those colors but suddenly shook the thought off. My parents would have a fit!
"Draco Malfoy!" The pale boy walks proudly to the stool. "Am I the only one bothered by his confidence?"
"SLYTHERIN!" Draco smirks and hopped off. The hat barely touched his head. "Ronald Weasley." The boy I saw earlier walks up. I could definitely tell he's related to Fred and George. I turn my head to the Gryffindor table and saw the twins making ugly faces at me. I giggle and shook y head, turning my attention back to the boy with the talking hat on his head. "AH HA! Another Weasley. I know just where to put you. GRYFFINDOR!"
"Harry Potter!" The sound of that name made all hell break loose. Everyone erupted into whisper, while I stand here dumbfounded. The boy with glasses walks up nervously. God bless him. He silently chanted "not Slytherin." "GRYFFINDOR!" The hat yelled. Everyone's being sorted into Gryffindor apparently. There were only a few spots left at the table. I began to feel nervous. Everyone else was called one by one and placed into their houses. Some Hufflepuff, some Ravenclaw. Then there were two. I felt like I was in elementary school all over again. Getting picked last for a sport that I never even like to play anyways.
"Cassandra Avery Black!" Cass gave my hand a squeeze before walking up. "Ah yesss. Very creative and loyal. A pureblood nontheless. Alright. SLYTHERIN!" Cass sighs a relief and winks at me. She meets Draco at the Slytherin table and high-fives him. Chewing on a nail nervously, I waited for my name to be called.
"Alexandria Persephone Marie Black" Professor McGonagall calls out. I froze. Did she really have to say my full name. There were shouts from the Gryffindor table. "lITTLE RED!" Fred shouted. I snap back into reality. Oh no, now they know my real name. And I was having so much fun teasing them too.
