The sick day had finished out with Luke and I waking up from our little nap to make a sheets and pillow fort. After that we laid in the fort and watched the other two movies falling asleep at different times during them.
But the sick day came and went and today I was back at work. Mia and I chilling at the dinner. It felt good to be back at home with my friends and family that couldn't come with us.
Today, I had to work the late shift and close up. Nobody ever wanted the late shift! The late shift at the dinner meant people you had never seen before coming in and be obnoxious. On a late night shift, the dinner didn't close till one in the morning and I really wasn't going home till two because of closing everything up. It also meant I wasn't working the next day.
I was standing behind the counter just after the lunch rush when Mia called over to me from a table she was waiting. "Can you ring this sweet man up for me?"
"Yeah no problem!" I called back seeing the short old man walk toward me at the register. "Hello, Sir! Did you have a good meal?"
He smiled back at me. "Why yes I did, young lady. Thank you for askin'." He spoke with an accent.
Suddenly the door swung open the bell ringing loudly as it did, and then was slammed shut by Luke rushing into the dinner looking frantically around. He spotted me and quickly ran over leaning against the counter next to the old man. "Hey Jess!" He beamed at me.
"Hey! What's got you all happy?" I smiled back. You could see in his face he was trying to hold back telling me what it was. "Come on Luke, what is it?" I starting getting really excited my curiosity getting the better of me.
"Alright, fine. I'm not supposed to tell you with the guys but whatever I'm too excited." He beamed still jumping a bit. "They called!"
"OH MY GOSH! WHEN? WHAT DID HE SAY?" The boys have been talking back and forth with this producer for the past few months. He said he would call them soon to tell them what's up and how he feels about their music.
Luke jumped a bit again in excitement. "He's called us in to talk some time this week. Jess, he's called us in!" If the producer didn't want the boys they would not be going in. He would have told them straight over the phone if he did not want them.
"Oh My Gosh! This Is Amazing, Luke!" I ran around the counter jumping into his arms that were spread wide open in hug me in them. As we hugged, he picked me up and spun me a bit in the air. "This is great Luke! It really is!"
"Thanks, Jess!" He chuckled lowly to himself. "But I think you're forgetting someone." Luke motioned his head to the older man still standing behind me.
I quickly dashed back around the counter saying sympathetically, "I'm so sorry, Sir! I really am! This is just a really big deal." I blushed quickly getting him his change.
"Aw it's no problem, doll face!" I smiled bigly back at me. "You should be happy sounds like a great thing happening to your boyfriend here." Gesturing towards Luke.
My eyes widened looking quickly back and forth between Luke and the man. "Oh-"
I was cut off by Luke finishing for me. "Thank you! I couldn't have done it without my girl." Luke cheekily smiled at me.
"Well, looks like you got yourself a keeper." The old man said to me turning away walking toward the door.
I blushed. "I know." I paused and said the next only loud enough for Luke and Mia, who had walked over, to hear. "He's one of the best Quidditch players we have." Luke rolled his eyes and shook his head while Mia and I laughed.
