[tw: slight cursing]

By the time we step into the kitchen, it's all dark. I bend over and loosen the clasp on Champ's belt. It is quiet in the house.

Champ walks cutely to his little cozy bed. Within seconds he is asleep. If only I could do that...

I throw my coat over a chair and turn all the lights on in the kitchen. Every time I'm home alone, it strikes me again how gloomy and cold this house really is.

My father sent a text, he is staying with Sabine and that there was money in the drawer next to the stove for pizzas. And if I wanted to walk Champ.

It's almost a habit... I don't feel like having another pizza at all. My dad can keep his shitty money. I don't want it.

One by one I open the kitchen cupboards until I find a bag of chips. I quickly finish the entire bag and drink some diet coke from the bottle. For dessert I eat two cake slices.

Without cleaning up my mess I walk upstairs. Light streams through the cracks of Drista's bedroom door. Apparently she's behind her computer.

"I'm back!" I shout. "Aw no!" She shouts back.

I consider saying something stupid back, but I change my mind. What does it matter? Then we'll argue again.

Drista and I use to be on the same side. But it seems like we understand each other less lately.

With a sigh I walk to my bedroom. First I check my phone. Which is on the desk, charging. I see a message from Sam.

Sam

Help what is the homework for geography?

I can't find it anywhere...

I text back.

Clay

You idiot, no worries

We have to make all exercises of chapter 3😩

He doesn't send anything back. I bet he's having dinner right now, laughing with his parents and sister he has a perfect relationship with.

He's from a type of family who always watches you when playing football. And can't hangout in spring break because he's always with his family.

I open up Instagram and like everything I see. It's getting boring really fast. It is just 18:30. I'm stuck with myself all evening.

I spin around on my chair and lean back. My two windows stare at me like two black eyes. I stare back.

It looks like the world on the other side of the window doesn't even exist, that's how dark it is outside.

I get up and walk to my windows. Before I close my curtains, I look outside again.

I press my nose against the cold glass. Very vague I can distinguish some things. I see the black forest in the distance.

I see a small orange light, a cigarette? Then it disappears. Probably someone walking there dog or something.

I still feel weird tho. The forest and the silence are almost threatening, like something bad is about to happen.

Yes Clay, idiot, if you're not going to make your homework now, you're gonna be screwed tommorow.

I look out of the window for a few seconds before I close the curtains. I better do my homework now.
