NATASHA X DAUGHTER READER
Y/N'S AGE : FIVE YEARS OLD
TYPE : ANGST
PROMPT : Natasha has been away on missions a lot because of work and she's been growing apart from you but doesn't notice.

WANDA'S POV
"Wanda, when will Mama be back?" Y/N asked tiredly.

"Soon honey, soon." I assured her, rubbing her back.

Long hours passed and Natasha still hadn't come back from her mission. It was two in the morning, but thankfully, Y/N was asleep. I decided to fall asleep too, knowing her mom would be back in the morning. She had promised she would be back at night though so I felt kind of sad for Y/N.

The next morning, I was awoken by Natasha shaking me awake. "Wanda? Hi, wake up, it's Nat."

"Nat?" I rasped lowly, not wanting to wake Y/N.

"Yeah, it's me." She smiled, crouching next to the bed to see her daughter.

"Why didn't you come home earlier? You promised Y/N you would be back home yesterday night. She was really sad Nat." I frowned, slightly sitting up and rocking Y/N in my arms.

"I-I know. The mission just lasted longer than it should have." She stuttered, then grabbed her daughter from my arms.

"Wait but you're still in your suit and there's a little blood on your arms. How about you go have a nice shower so Y/N can wake up to a nice and clean you." I suggested, chuckling.

"Yeah, you're right, here." She complied as she passed Y/N over to me again and left to go clean up.

About half an hour later, here she was, back from her shower. Y/N was still asleep and we were sitting on a couch in the backyard as I drank my coffee.

Natasha came over to me and asked. "Hey, Wanda? Do you mind taking care of Y/N today too, I just really need to get the mission debrief to Fury."

"Nat, are you serious? I just told you earlier that Y/N had a tantrum last night because you didn't come home. Can't you just spend the day with her today?" I answered, genuinely feeling bad for Y/N.

"Wanda, I can't. It's just really important. Plus, it's just one more day. I'll see her tonight." She huffed.

"Whatever you say. Try to see her today though." I shrugged as she left.

As expected, Y/N woke up a few minutes later.

"Hi, sweetie." I cooed, stroking her hair.

"Where's Mama?" She asked, tears streaming down her cheeks as she realized I was the one holding her, not Natasha.

"She hasn't come back yet my love, I'm so sorry. She'll hopefully be back tonight, okay?" I lied, not wanting her to look around the compound for her mom.

She didn't even answer as her lower lip started to quiver, she started to cry and scream.

"Y/N, baby, please calm down." I tried calming her, but she just kicked me in the stomach.

"I want Mama!" She cried loudly.

"Please, please don't kick. You'll see her soon, I promise." I begged, wincing as she kicked me in the stomach again.

"No, I want Mama now!"

"I know, I know you do." I whispered, placing her down so she wouldn't kick me again.

She had a tantrum for a while, which was honestly reasonable. We then made our way to the kitchen and I made breakfast for the both of us. We ate together, then suddenly, Nat was heard from her office, yelling on the phone.

"Mama?" Y/N asked, dropping her spoon.

"Wait here sweetie." I ordered as I left the kitchen and knocked on Nat's door.

"What?!" She shouted and I opened the door.

"Natasha, will you stop shouting! Y/N is just down the hall, she heard you and is gonna start asking where you are. What do you want me to say to her?!" I whisper yelled until I got cut off by a little voice.

"Mama?" I turned around, seeing Y/N just standing there, looking at us confused.

"Oh, Y/N." I said, gently picking her up and placing her on my hip.

"Mama!" She screamed, wiggling her way out of my grip and running over to her mom.

"Hi, baby." Natasha smiled as Y/N jumped in her arms and she placed her on her lap.

"You said you would come back last night! Why did you lie?" Y/N cried, hitting her Mom's chest with her little fists.

"Y/N we do not hit!" Natasha scolded.

"Answer me!" Y/N yelled again.

"I'm sorry, honey. I got caught up with work. But I really need you to stay with Wanda now, okay? I've still got work to do." She explained, placing her down.

"No! I want to stay with you!" Y/N whined.

"Mama's busy, alright. Don't be a bad girl, go with Wanda." Natasha answered.

Y/N just placed her head down and looked at the ground, then made her way to her room and cried in her bed. I decided to give her some space, but wanted to let her know I was there for her.

"Y/N, sweetie, if you need me I'll be in the kitchen, okay?" I sighed, crouching next to her as she laid her on bed.

"Don't want you." She groaned, rolling over to the other side of her bed.

The day passed and Y/N had the biggest nap ever from all of her crying. She woke up later in the afternoon and we watched a movie together. As we were cuddling, a knock was heard on the door.

NATASHA'S POV :
I honestly started feeling bad for Y/N, so I finished the work I had left really quickly, then made my way to her room and knocked on her door, only to find her cuddling with Wanda and watching a movie.

"Hi." I smiled, sitting on the bed next to them, receiving a death glare from my daughter.

"I'll give you two a minute." Wanda announced, leaving the room and shutting the door.

"Baby, I'm so sorry for leaving you for longer than I said I would. I didn't realize that I've been putting my work before you, but I do now. Please forgive me." I begged, getting closer to her and tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

She started crying, then buried her face in my chest and hugged me tightly. "Never leave me again, Mama!"

"I won't, I promise I won't. I'm sorry." I whispered, rubbing her back.

After that, I had a talk with Fury and decided to take some time off work. He wasn't okay with it at first, but I convinced him. After all these years, I think I did deserve my long needed break. I needed to be there for Y/N.
