Jungkook pov

He wasn't even sure where that had come from.

He hadn't meant to flirt with the omega, at least not while he was in a hospital bed.

But the omega had said those words and it had just come out.

He would be lying if he didn't admit to loving the blush on the omega's face, and the slight uptake in his breathing at the comment.

It was nice to know that he wasn't the only one experiencing the attraction between them.

It was also good to see color in Jimin's cheeks and his eyes lit up with laughter.

If He lived to be a hundred, he would never forget the sound of Jimin screaming his name.

He'd shot out of bed like a cannon at the sound of the pained cry, his body breaking out in a cold sweat at the guttural sound of his name.

He hadn't even paused to put a shirt on, having gone to bed in just pajama bottoms.

He could laugh about it now but at the time he'd been absolutely terrified.

He'd rushed into Jimin's room and saw the omega curled up on himself, whispering tearfully for his baby.

The panic was replaced with a sense of urgency and he'd simply reacted, picking Jimin up and sprinting towards the elevator.

In hindsight, he should have probably called for an ambulance and not moved the omega, but seeing him curled up in pain had completely short-circuited his common sense and rational thinking.

He'd simply acted on instinct, terror-fueled instinct, but instinct nonetheless.

Thankfully, everything had worked out, and he was forever grateful for having a lock box requiring his fingerprints in his private garage so his chauffeur could bring the cars around without coming up to the apartment, or he would have been screwed, having run out of his home without even a phone or car keys.

"So," Jungkook glanced at Jimin and when their eyes met and held, he saw a flash of something that looked like interest before jimin looked away and began twisting his hands together.

He filed the information away.

Now was not the time or the place. But at least there was a chance.

That brief moment they'd shared, he knew that he wasn't alone in the unspoken awareness between them.

He decided a change of topic was needed, "Happy to see you with color in your cheeks, I swear you scared ten years off my life when I heard you scream."

"I'm sorry for wakin..." jimin began.

But he cut him off with a growl.

"Don't even finish that sentence, I'm not sorry and it terrifies me that you could have been alone,"

He dragged his hand through his hair and pulled it at the thought.

Fuck, what if Jimin had been in that ratty apartment alone?

He was certain none of the people there would have done a thing to help.

Okay sure, it hadn't been more than the uterus stretching to accommodate the baby, which was apparently common in the second trimester, but it could have been worse and that thought scared him.

There must have been a look on his face that had Jimin feeling like he needed to reassure him, because Jimin sat up in bed and looked him square in the eye.

"I'm fine. Do you hear me? Fine."

"Right yes, fine..."

jungkook turned away from the bed and took a deep breath before walking unsteadily to the cot he'd forced them to give him after claiming to be Jimin's fiancé.

He was surprised how easy the words had come out of his mouth.

He wasn't sure why seeing Jimin curled up in pain, his eyes glassy and unfocused, hands wrapped around his belly, and whispering for his baby, tears running down his face had affected him so deeply.

When they'd tried taking Jimin away at the hospital, all his alpha instincts had rebelled having the omega out of sight.

He knew he wasn't the one in the hospital bed but seeing Jimin awake and alert, his cheeks pink with health, had him briefly shutting his eyes and breathing in deeply.

And sending gratitude that Jimin would be going home once they'd done the ultrasound in the morning.

He took a seat on the cot and met Jimin's eyes again, smiling his relief. His smile widened at the grin on Jimin's face.

"So maybe I should get your last name and date of birth at the very least," he winked at Jimin.

"Not that I don't mind sharing Jeon with you. Jeon Jimin does have a nice ring to it, but I think most people would find it weird that I didn't know my fiancé's full name, don't you think?"

"Oh my," Jimin murmured.

And that was how they spent the rest of night getting to know each other better.

Jimin drifted off during their conversation and jungkook stood and made sure he was properly covered.

He swept his thumb over Jimin's cheek, leaned down and a placed a kiss on his forehead, "Sleep tight."

Jungkook decided to stretch his legs and exited the room.

He looked back at the door debating if he should leave.

"I'll keep an eye over your omega for you," the nurse from before said with a wink.

Why was it sounding less and less like fiction, Jimin as his omega?

And why didn't he feel the noose around his neck that usually appeared at the thought of settling down and letting an omega into his life?

What made him different special?
