''You, sure your okay Sam?'' Vincent asked as Sam pulled into Vincent's driveway. Sam pressed down his hat.
''Yeah, I'll be, don't you start worrying 'bout me,'' Sam told Vincent as he turned to him. Vincent gave him a worrying smile, but got out of the truck.
''See you, cowboy,'' Vincent waved goodbye to Sam as he walked up the pathway to his house. Sam stepped slightly on the gas and drove out of Vincent's driveway. He still had the appertain of Little Miss Marie Solaire fresh in his head.
She had orange curls, but the mother had brown hair, did that mean that she took got it from her father? Why is the mother different? Why is she scaring her own kids? Is that even the real mother? So many questions, maybe they all can be answered.
Sam didn't take his regular road home, he took the road to the local library.

''Well, well, of course Sam Collins would come at these ungodly hours, to research,'' Mrs. Mill chuckled as Sam walked through the doors.
''Hey, Margret,'' Sam hugged Mrs. Mill. Mrs. Mill patted his back and pulled back.
''Alexis, givin' you a hard time?'' Mrs. Mill asked. Sam nodded and his lips turned into a thin line.
''Oh sweet baby Jesus, if that women doesn't stop givin' you shit, I'm going to kill her,'' Mrs. Mill groaned.
''Come on Margret, I can take care of myself, I already deal with her today,'' Sam reassured her as he walked into the 1500's section.
''Today, suga' you're going to need to deal with her forever, until I do it myself!'' Mrs. Mill shouted.
''How's your wife?'' Sam asked shuffling through books full of books from that era. ''She's doin' fine, her left leg still hurtin' but Doc said she'll live, also don't change the damn subject!'' Mrs. Mill yelled.
Sam had a smile and shook his head.
''Where's the Solaire family box?'' Sam asked. Mrs. Mill stopped and looked at him.
''They got about fifteen boxes on the case, and seventeen just on the family, which ones?'' Mrs. Mill asked.
''Wait what case?'' Sam asked confused.
''Oh you've never heard of the Solaire case, well what the newspaper said they were killed in their own home along with all of their maids, butlers, even their cook,'' Mrs. Mill picked up a case.
''Can the ghost be seen by magic users, like me?'' Sam asked finding one box of 'The Solaire case'.
''Yup, also to mediums as well,'' Mrs. Mill answered. Sam carried the box over to a table. ''The most of the time, they can talk to the little ones and maids, but never the eldest son, or the parents, strangely enough,'' Mrs. Mill placed another box next to Sam's.
Sam didn't say anything , because he didn't want to freak Margret out. She was human, but her wife is an medium. So her wife wouldn't freak out.
''I'll look through these and try to fine something, thank you , ''Sam said pulling up a chair.
''Okay, I'll go get you some coffee, because I know you, when you study up on your history on a house, you're going to be here all night,'' Margret remarked. Sam rolled his eyes and got to work.
☕️🕰
Sam pushed up his reading glasses, and looked out the window. Sunrise. He ruffled his hair. he found a shit ton of things about the family.
One; It turns out the father's body was out in the woods, shot to death.
Two; Marie was drowned to death in the barrel inside the house.
Three; the youngest boys were also shot to death just like their father.
Four; The other two girls, and the mother were axed to death (so were the maids).
Five; The eldest son was never found. Even a search team tried to find the eldest but no luck with that.
Six; All their bodies are spread across the property. So what Sam was thinking, he needs to find all the bodies and lay them fully to rest tombstones and everything. The can never rest until someone puts them to rest. Sam entered his car and sat a box full of stuff he needed to research more on.
He started the truck then he heard scratching on his car door. He was confused and opened the door. It was the black dog from the Solaire Estate.
Sam was confused.
Did it follow him all the way here?
Why is it here? The dog whined and gestured to the truck.
''Do you want to get in the truck?'' Sam asked the dog. It sneezed and licked its chops. Sam sighed. ''Come on,'' Sam said patting the floor on the passenger side. It's tailed didn't wag it just barked and climbed over him.
He got a whiff of gunpower from the dog. The dog sat down on the floor. ''Why the hell do you smell like gunfire, did you get in a crossfire of some sort?'' Sam asked. The black dog laid it's head on their paws and whined. It seems to be hungry and tired.
Sam hovered his hand over the dog. There was a slight growl in it's throat, but it leaned up and sniffed Sam's hand.
''It's alright beautiful, I'm not gonna' hurt you,'' Sam whispered to the black dog. Sam lowered his hand onto the dogs head, and scratched behind it's ears. The black dog whined but left Sam to pet them. Sam started backing out of the library parking lot. The black dog shuffled closer and laid their head on his right thigh.
Sam rubbed his eyes with his palm of his hands. Sam looked down at the dog. It was looking up at him.
''I'll name you Darlin' it fits you,'' Sam smiled at the dog. Darlin's tail shifted side to side slowly. They were totally exhausted.
''Let's get you too the house buddy,'' Sam grinned down. He needed some sleep two. Out of the corner of his eye he saw something.
The 'Mother' in the Attic.
