Sam woke up face to face with Alexis. Sam shot up and tried to get away from her.
''Calm down, Sam I'm just cleaning up some of your wounds,' ' Alexis tried to explain. Sam tried to back up, as Alexis tried to explain.
Then she started to back away, by a sound. Sam looked down and saw Darlin' in their wolf form. They looked furious, they had their chops pulled back and exposing their teeth. Alexis backed up into the wall. Darlin' growled deeply and stood in front of the bed. Sam sat up and gasped in pain. Darlin' looked behind themselves with a worried expression.
''Seems like the mutt cares for you,'' Alexis spat underneath her breathe. Darlin' turned back around and bared their teeth again. Alexis squinted at the wolf like dog. Darlin' started barking furiously at Alexis.
''What the hell, is going on?'' Vincent entered the room. He saw Alexis being barked at by this rather large dog.
''Down Darlin','' Sam breathed in holding his side. Darlin' backed up and padded over to Sam's side.
''Alexis, go wait outside,'' Vincent said underneath his breath to her. Alexis only stood for a moment and nodded. She turned her back to Sam and his companion and padded off. Sam breathed in sharply and coughed. Vincent jogged over to Sam's side.
He reached out but Sam whacked his hand away. Vincent staggered a little blinking in pure confusion. Sam's breath hitched and he gazed down towards the floor where Darlin' was sprawled out on their side.
He knew their secret, there was no use of hiding it now.
''I apologize Vincent,'' Sam stuttered. '
'It's alright, Sam, you've been through a lot, it's time for you to relax,'' Vincent patted Sam's shoulder.
''Thanks Vincent, but could you leave me for a moment, I need to regroup my mind right now,'' Sam told the truth without biting his tongue. Vincent nodded in a knowing motion. Vincent knew to well, he needed time to understand everything and himself.
Vincent strides over to the door and made his way out.
The room was full of silence.
''Darlin', you don't have to hide anymore,'' Sam whispered looking cautiously at Darlin'. The wolf-dog sneezed and crawled underneath the bed. Sam's eyes trailed slowly to the other side. The human version of Darlin' crawled out from the other side, and stood still. Sam started to speak but Darlin' cut him off.
''Before, you say anything, Samuel, I wish to apologize,'' Darlin' stopped Sam in his tracks. Sam bit his inner-cheek. ''I'm sorry, that I wasn't able to save you, from this terrible fate that has bestowed upon you,'' Darlin' starts off. ''I tried to help you, but tis' with all my efforts it was useless, and I deeply apologize for that, but I could do nothing to help you now in this very moment, so I made up my mind about something,'' Darlin's lips trembled.
Sam felt his stomach churn. He's only known Darlin' for two and a half months.
But he's felt like he's known them for so much longer.
''I feel we should part ways for now,'' Darlin' fiddled with their shirt. Sam's face whitened and cold sweat started to form at his hairline. ''Ever since I came into your life, she has taken your humanity, and she's became more powerful ever since I left that house,'' Darlin' admitted. ''I was the protector of that house and I knew she got attached to you so I tried to save you from an inevitable fate,'' Sam shook his head at those words.
So they knew this was going to happen and they tried everything in their power to help Sam.
But it was useless, but that didn't mean it was their fault.
''It's not your fault, Darlin', she was already on me like a hunter to a doe, it was not your fault,'' Sam reassured Darlin'. The wolf-shifter shook their head once more and faced Sam with a solemn look.
That made Sam's heart hurt, like he knew the pain Darlin' was going through.
''Still, she won't hurt you that much if I keep her in her place,'' Darlin' explained fiddling with their hands. ''So that's why we are parting ways for now,'' Darlin' stated. Sam tried to protest but the pain in his side intervened. ''You know where to find me, and here,'' Darlin' held out a sliver chain with an Angelite stone for the center piece.
''The stone will guide you to a peaceful mindset and will be full of peace,'' Darlin' placed the necklace down on the bedside table. ''And plus, it also could guide you in your worst of times,'' Darlin' smiled with a underlining amount of sadness.
''Thank you, Darlin', I appreciate this,'' Sam said with a small smile. Darlin' ducked down underneath the bed and came back up as the wolf-dog they were before. Sam and Darlin' made eye-contact one last time, before Darlin' walked to the door and wiggled out.
Darlin' walked down the darkened hallway of the Solaire Estate, knowing that William was close by. They also felt the feeling of another presence, but it was a dark presence. They found the front door and wiggled through the crack. The cold autumn air of Dhalia hit them straight on. Once again they were alone.
This was common for Darlin' they had no real pack, since now they were classified as a werewolf now.
Although, the term werewolf came into play in the 13's even before the time of Darlin'. That wasn't their real name, they don't really remember their name. All they remembered being called is 'Tank' or 'Mutt'.
Though, they know they have a real name they just need to remember. Walking alone the empty streets was also common if they just wanted to get away from that hell of a house. Some many things have happened to this town ever since 1500's. Darlin' heard a snap behind them.
They spun around and bared their teeth to a tall male.
''Hey hey it's alright, I'm a friend,'' A soft deep gruffy voice came from the man. Tank stared at the man, with a warning growl. The man had deep brunette hair with light brown eyes. His skin reminding Tank of a deep olive color.
''My name is Gabe Shaw, I'm a alpha, I heard you're a lone wolf,'' Gabe crouched down to Tank. Tank hesitated but unshifted and trembled.
''You are an Alpha?'' Tank backed up a little.
''Yes, and it's okay not to trust me at first, but I can help you, will you let me help you?'' Gabe asked reaching out his hand.
Tank hesitated but gulped down their worries and took his hand.
''I'll take you too my home, I think David would like you,'' Gabe held onto Tank's wrist.
''Is he your son?'' Tank asked.
''Yes, he's about 7 months old, and how old are you?'' Gabe raised his brow. Tank remember the last time they aged was about 25 years ago, so they were about...
''I'm (22/24 or 26/ you pick),'' Tank bit their inner-cheek.
''Oh well, I think Miss lady at home would enjoy your company,'' Gabe teased about his wife. Tank laughed ever so slightly. Tank felt the presence of the dark evil following close behind, but Tank was prepared for it.
''What's your name kid?'' Gabe asked Tank opening the car door.
''Tank,'' The lone wolf smiled at the alpha. Gabe smiled as well. This was a new beginning for Sam and Darlin'
But this was not the end...this was just the beginning of this story...
