Ruby POV

I listened as Arthur went over the plan. I felt myself looking out for Merlin and Will but they were obviously occupied. Arthur's eyes occasionally glanced over obviously looking for him. I felt a small smile cross my lips. Arthur obviously likes him. My brother probably has no idea. He is oblivious to those kinds of things. Not that I can really talk.

After that we split off. Most of the villagers chatting and starting there bed time routine. Arthur went off in the direction that Merlin had gone. Typical. I turn to the beautiful girl Morgana and her 'friend'. I approach them. Morgana turns to me. "Oh Ruby, right?" Morgana says questionably. "Yeah that's me. Morgana and...?" I ask. The women looks slightly embarrassed. "I'm Gwen. So how do you know Merlin?" She says. It looks like she was desperate to ask.

Morgana looks interested too. "Oh you mean my brother? I mean we did grow up together." I say confused, has Merlin not mentioned me? "Oh I didn't know Merlin had a sister." Morgana says. I feel awkward and a little displaced. "That's weird. Not sure why he hasn't mentioned me." I say. The other two seem to notice my sad aura though. "I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. He has been quite busy." Gwen says as I nod to myself.

I try to change the subject quickly though. "Well do you two want to come with me? I've made some makeshift beds with blankets." I say as the two look at each other and nod. "Sure, Thank you Ruby." Morgana says. I smile and lead them to my small house. Arthur would be staying with Mum and Merlin.

I showed them in and we set up for the night. It was mostly quiet. Once we had laid down for the night Morgana turned to me. "Have you always slept on the floor?" She asked. I nodded and then realised she probably couldn't see me as we had already put the candle out. "Yeah. Life is simple here. Having a bed is a luxury around here." I say as I smile to myself.

"It must be hard on you." Morgana says. I feel a smirk slip onto my face. "It's like rock, literally." I say with a small giggle. "I didn't mean the ground. I meant living here after your brother left." She says. I sigh, thinking to myself. It has been hard. "mmm a little I suppose." I say. Then Gwen speaks up, I didn't even know she was awake.

"Is he a good brother? I know he is a good friend so I'm curious." Gwen says. I smile to myself. "He is my favourite person. He is the best person I know. He has always been there for me." I say honestly. I hear a small giggle. "Sounds nice, having a brother like that." Gwen says. I was curious but didn't want to question it.

"Do you know why he travelled to Camelot?" Morgana asks me curious. I was suddenly glad she couldn't see my face. "Things have changed. He wanted something different." I say, being partially honest. "What about you?" She asks me. I sit up slightly in shock. "What about me?" I ask confused. "Do you want something different?" Morgana asks me. I look up at the roof, thinking.

I know the plan is to eventually join Merlin in Camelot. Is that what I want though. What I want? Somewhere I can be me without being persecuted. "Yes, I don't think I fit in here anymore but I'm scared." I admit, though I don't know why. "So what are you going to do about it?" Morgana asks. I sigh, unsure.

"What do you mean?" I ask as Morgana turns towards me slightly. "If you don't fit in here what are you going to do?" Morgana asks me. I turn to her slightly, feeling concerned and unsure. She was asking a lot of questions. She sounds like she cares. "I want to find somewhere that I do. I just don't know where that is." I say honestly.

I feel a hand touch my shoulder, I turn towards her in the dark feeling strange. "I hope you find that place." She says as I feel myself smile again. A strange feeling erupting in my chest. We part and settle back into our own beds. "Thank you." I say. I think I see her smile. "We are going to start training tomorrow. It's going to be a long day." Morgana says. "Alright, good night." I say just glad to have time to think to myself. She turns over and mumbles, "Good night."
