talia beckett's father, cyrus beckett, decided that a summer in cousins, new england could do the pair some good. talia assumed it was the new-divorce guilt which caused the impulsive summer destination.
either way, she was grateful- life in sunny california isn't all it's cracked up to be.
her perfect academic record and glorified personal statement won't be enough to guarantee her ticket out of there- this summer is exactly what she needed to get her mind off college admissions and complete her high-school experience.
this summer, talia beckett was set on living, on loving and experiencing everything she was putting off for this very moment.

conrad fisher spent every summer of his life at cousins, new england. it was constant, a promise and somehow he never thought about the summers changing. but after finding out his mother's cancer returned back in spring, he can't help but grieve and watch his constant, promised summers fall apart.
it all started when clay, their summer neighbour since forever, didn't return this summer. then, he sees belly all grown up, his mum more and more tired. conrad truly felt off-axis.
reality was settling in and the beauty of summer couldn't even hide what he knows will come.
however, the fisher's new summer neighbours, the becketts, were warm and kind and (unsurprisingly) much better than clay- including sweet-faced, well-mannered and thoughtful talia.
maybe talia was exactly what conrad fisher needed to get his mind off everything that he knows he can't control.
