Four Seasons

Ok, so yesterday my cousins were in from Colorado and one of them was working on something for a story she's writing. I was kinda just chilling and, since she wouldn't let me draw on her arm (meanie XD), I had to occupy myself in some way. I asked her to give me random prompts and I was writing oneshots on them. One of the prompts was kotlc-related and I really like how it turned out, so i'm gonna put it on here. I probably won't put any of the others, just cause they're not kotlc and not as good, but we shall see. Hope you enjoy! :)

He had always loved the changing seasons. They were all beautiful in their own way. Summer, spring, fall, winter. He had no favorite, enjoying every one in its entirety.

"Lennox! Come inside!" his mother called from inside their elven mansion.

"Okay, mom,"  he responded, throwing a lingering glance back towards his favorite tree and running back towards the house.

"Were you sitting under that tree again?" she asked once he'd gotten inside.

"Yes," he said defiantly. He really didn't understand why his mother saw it as a bad thing to sit under the same tree every day, thinking. His mother sighed and gave him a look. He turned away from her glare and went up the stairs to his room.

Lennox loved his room. It reminded him of his father. Even though it was extremely uncommon for elves to die, his father happened to be one of the unlucky few. His father also played a part in his love for the tree outside his house. He and his father had always sat underneath it and they would watch the seasons change together. Now it was just Lennox, but he could sometimes feel his father's spirit in the tree.

Lennox sighed, sitting down on his bed. He let his fingers trail across the edges of the bedspread, tiny yellow flowers blooming where his fingertips touched.

He hadn't told his mother about his newly manifested ability. The only person he would've told was his father, and he wasn't there to tell. He hadn't even told his school, Foxfire, even though it would've gotten him out of his ability-detecting class. Not that it was exactly an ability they could detect. To Lennox's knowledge, he was the only elf with such an ability. No other could influence and control the greenry the way Lennox could.

He was different. Special. Unique, as his father would have said. And unique people needed to leave a mark on the world. Lennox wanted to leave a mark. One everyone would see and appreciate for its natural beauty and magic.

With that in mind, Lennox treaded outside, ignoring his mother's calls for him to come back. He marched all the way up to the tree - his tree - and placed his palm against the rough bark. Letting his eyes fall closed, Lennox took a deep breath and concentrated. He felt his fingertips go warm. He thought about beauty. Nature. Seasons. He could feel something flowing from him, spreading to the tree. He was making his mark.

He knew his creation would do great things. It would help people, even if he wouldn't be there to see it. He could feel his life fading away and into the tree, but Lennox was at peace with it.

In that moment, Lennox saw the future of his tree. He saw where his house once stood, since reduced to nothing. He saw a woman, fading away. A couple, saying their vows. Two children, a boy and a girl, desperate for help. Yes, his tree would be a perfect imprint on this imperfect world.

Lennox opened his eyes, seeing his new tree for the first time, decorated with and displaying every season. He took it in, smiling softly. He lowered himself onto the grass beside the tree and leaned his head against the trunk. Maybe his spirit would go into the tree, too. Just like his father's.

Okay, so basically this is a little one shot of what created the four seasons tree in kotlc, if you couldn't tell. I actually looked up what created it when I finished writing this, and, yes, there is a canon reason for it, but whatever. It's fineeeeeee XD
