April 12, 1972
Rodney is now two and a half. His father's law career is going well, and his mother is two months pregnant with his sibling. Rodney had become quite good playmates with a kid from his neighborhood named Bob, who was only a few months older than him. This particular day, they were sitting on the floor of Rodney's living room, doing coloring books. Rodney was coloring a dinosaur, Bob, a dandelion.

September 1, 1975
Rodney was beginning kindergarten! Carol walked him into his classroom, and the teacher greeted him. Rodney went to sit next to Bob, who was in the same class as him.
The day went by pretty well. They introduced themselves to each other, and Rodney and Bob had made a new edition to their friend group, Rex.

Their elementary school days were a blast. Rodney and Bob would get off the bus together every day, then go to Bob's house to watch cartoons. On the weekends, they all slept over at Rex's house. He had the best playset in his yard!
After fifth grade graduation, the boys' parents took them to get ice cream to celebrate as they discussed what they thought Junior High would be like.
