"You summoned?"

It wasn't really a question, it was more of a courteous assertion, equally pointless and indifferent. Regular greetings became meaningless here, they've faded away long time ago.

As usual, his head was buried in ledgers as others - like him- did on their desks. While the rest -of my kind- waited for instructions. The loads of papers that were stacked high on his desk almost had him hidden. Endless rows and columns of numbers filled the pages in front of him.

My presence was acknowledged with a quick glance and an empty half smile. "Your Dao has returned with a few possible assignments. They all seemed quite desperate, and with your record, I believe you'll be done in no time."

Without lifting his head or breaking count, he reached for a piece of paper and handed it to me. I ran my eyes across the details quickly before turning to leave.

"She's pleased with your results," he remarked.

I halted my steps and looked over my shoulder.

He lifted his head from his numbers, "Keep it up."

I nodded then made my out.
