With homecoming a week away, Lexi still hadn't found the dress she loved. Chris knew how much it meant to her and he knew it had to be perfect. After hours of searching for the perfect dress and arguing back and forth about how revealing or too childish it was, they'd finally found the one!
"Okay, we got the dress. Now what?" Lexi paced as she realized she'd never done this before.
"Look at you, noob. Come on. You need to figure out how you want your hair and makeup, you need to get your nails done, ah! Shoes!" He snapped remembering they hadn't found shoes.
"Shoes!?" Lexi gulped.
"If there's one thing I love, is buying women shoes!" He smiled as he took her hand leading her to the car excitedly.
"So... what kind of shoes should I even wear? I've never even worn something like this Chris I don't know!" Lexi stressed as they walked the mall looking through rows and rows of various formal shoes.
"Well, Lexi dear. It's spring. You have a nice sparkly dress, you need open toe straps." Chris stated as he looked for open toe heels.
"Open toe what now!?" Lexi looked at him like he was a stranger to her. She'd never seen this side of him before.
"Ah! Here! What size are you again? 6?" Chris asked as he filed through sizes.
"Uh- yeah- yes 6!" Lexi confirmed as she watched Chris shuffle through boxes of shoes.
He pulled out a slim box and opened it,
"Sit." He pointed to a bench in the aisle.
Lexi sat.
"See- open toe, straps." He showed her the beautiful shoe as she smiled curiously at her weird best friend.
"Okay Rico suave! Is this how you impress the ladies?!" Lexi laughed as he fastened the small buckle to her ankle.
"Among other ways. But really, I just like making them happy." He shrugged and flashed a dramatic smile to make her laugh.
"How are you not married yet! You're ridiculous!" Lexi laughed at him.
"Haven't found the right one to put up with my shit. It's okay I got time!" Chris said as he finished fastening the other shoe.
"I dunno Christopher, you're kinda old now." Lexi scrunched her nose teasing him!
"Ouch LEXI! I am not that old! 27 is still VERY young!" He laughed.
"I'm joking. You just haven't found a girl who deserves you yet. Besides, I put up with your shit and I'm only 14! Whoever she is, she can do it." She playfully punched his arm.
"Yeah, yeah. Come on, stand up, walk around tell me how they feel." He said as he helped her stand up.
Lexi stood up, and immediately wobbled. She'd never worn heels before.
"Careful!" Chris caught her and straightened her up.
"Okay. I got this." She said as she breathed and took a few steps, fumbling her feet like Bambi.
"Oop! Cooper down!" Chris laughed and helped her up.
"Not funny!" She said as she dusted herself off.
"How is it that you can balance on human hands but not heels?" Chris giggled at her.
"I don't know! Maybe I need to just wear my cheer shoes!" She joked.
"No, no, we'll get you these, and I'll help you walk in them and get them broken in. You'll be walking like Americas Next Top Model in no time!" He smiled sweetly at her.
