Last night was a blast. Dad and I shared a good laugh between some burgers and fries. Johnny was also joining in on us during his shift when the manager wasn't looking. As for today, I was ready to pack my bags for the flight. Dad said to bring lots of important and convenient items since we will be staying there for a while until the police case is closed.

It is now two days before the flight to Memphis, Tennessee. I told my dad I would be hanging out with Johnny before we leave. Johnny took off the past few days ever since he had heard we were leaving.
"So, how long you guys stayin' for?" Johnny questioned me, adjusting his black leather jacket.
I paused what I was doing and simply sent him a warm smile "Well, apparently the case will last about a year or two. He said that if they needed backup we would be staying for a good three years."
"Woah," His eyes widened in shock. "What am I gonna do while you're away, cous?" He chuckled.
"Right? I wish you could come." I sighed. Then, Johnny's eyes suddenly lit up.
"That's it! I'll quit my job and come with you to Memphis!" He excitedly jumped as if he was a toddler. I sent him a blunt stare, sighing in disbelief.
"Are you crazy? How can you just quit your job and leave everything behind just like that?" I stared at him, almost starting to laugh at how childish he sounded.
"I mean, you're leaving everything behind as well. So, why can't I?" He grinned as I let out a soft chuckle.
"Talk to my dad then. I'm sure he won't mind at all, but he may think you're crazy." I smiled before we headed back to my house. Johnny and I spoke to my dad about his plan that he thought of at his place.
My dad replied by stating that it would be okay as long as he is aware of the sacrifices he's making. Although, this is Johnny that we're talking about. Sacrifices do not exist in his mind.
"Johnny, you do realize when you get on this flight with us, there is no returning back until the case that my team is working on is dismissed?" My dad warned him.
Johnny nodded. "Well, my parent's wish for me was to get a great job along with a strong education that could help me out in the future." He sighed but covered it up with a smile.
He then continued by saying, "Besides, I've been working at that diner since I was fifteen-years-old. I have a lot of money saved up due to those four years of hard work. Maybe Memphis could be a great path for me to start my future in."
"Woah, there. You're coming with us so that is all that matters at the moment. No need to overdo it." I laughed at his remarks.
"Whatever." He lightly pushed my shoulder, sneaking me a small smile. This was going to be a long trip.
I placed my luggage on my bed, waiting for a call from Johnny. My dad, who was clearing the trunk, reminded us to all get some rest before the flight. We had to leave around 1:00 AM and make multiple stops to other states. It was currently 8:56 PM so we technically had five hours to go to the airport.
It was now 10:06 pm and we heard a loud knock on the door while gathering our needs. I figured it was Johnny since he was supposed to arrive around this time.
"Hey! Who's ready to have a ball? I know I am!" Johnny launched himself inside the house as dad and I helped him carry his many suitcases.
"It's great that you're feeling positive, Johnny. Although, you must save your energy for when we arrive." Dad chuckled a bit.
"No worries! I always have my energy." Johnny grins and turns to look at my items.
"You brought a lot, Johnny." I mumbled under my breath, trying my best to make it seem like a simple joke.
"You have more luggage than me!" He yelled back. My dad stepped in and eased the conversation.
"Alright, you two. You should probably sit down and relax until we leave. Don't wanna miss the flight because you two couldn't listen to the attendants." He grinned before walking to the kitchen to make a cup of black coffee.
"WAKE UP!!!" A loud voice screeched in the back of my head. Everything was black until I opened my eyes. It was dad.
"W...What do you want? I'm trying to sleep here." I mumbled, unaware of the time. I slowly look over my shoulder to see Johnny passed out on the other couch. He used his dark blue leather jacket as a blanket to keep himself warm.
"SLEEP? ITS 11:22 pm! WE HAVE A FLIGHT THAT WERE ABOUT TO MISS BECAUSE OF YOU TWO!!!" My dad, who was panicking, grabbed a cup of ice cold water and immediately splashed some water on Johnny's face.
"Uncle...Grant..." He groaned as he got up, feeling the liquid drip down his face. He used his dark blue jacket to dry himself from the water.
"YOU TWO. UP. NOW." He pointed his index finger to the pile of luggages that sat near the door.
"Alright, Johnny. You heard him. Go load the luggage in the vehicle." I yawned and sat back down on the sofa, rubbing my eyes.
"Nope," he ran his hand through his chocolate brown hair before sighing. "Get up. You're helping me."
"Do I have to?" I continued to stretch, slowly removing myself from the sofa.
"HALF OF THESE ARE YOURS." Johnny placed his hands on both sides of his head as if he was going insane. I instantly giggled before following him outside with the suitcases.
The ride to the airport was one of the worst things I've ever went through. Maybe even worse than the breakup. Johnny kept falling asleep on my shoulder which caused me to shove him to the other side of the seat. My dad, who was stressing like crazy, had the most scariest road rages within that hour. Since Bonanza Airlines was an hour away from our house, traffic would affect the time we had to arrive even if it were an hour or more.
Soon, light raindrops started to hit the windshield of our vehicle, which caused my dad to take a big deep breathe in. Dad hates the rain with a passion, don't know why but he just gets aggravated by it.
The rain got heavier as time passed by. Johnny then woke up to a sound of the striking thunder. "Are we there yet?" He spoke with a raspy tone.
"Not quite, we have around ten minutes until we arrive at the airport." Dad quietly inhaled, trying to relieve his stress. All I remembered after that was rocking myself to sleep until we arrived. I heard a click from the radio, hearing my dad sing along to the song 'Shoo-Shoo Baby' by The Andrew Sisters.
After what felt like eternity, my dad woke Johnny and I up from our deep slumber.
"We're here!" My dad got out of the car and opened my side of the car door to nudge our shoulders, trying his best to get us conscious. We finally arrived at the airport.
