“Louis…what do you mean?” you ask.
“I mean come live with us for the summer!” Louis says. “Come on, it’ll be fun!”
“Come live with you guys? I don’t know…I mean, I’d love to, but I don’t know what my parents will say…” you explain.
“Then run away,” Louis suggests.
“Louis, I can’t just run away!” you yell, attracting the attention of the people nearby.
“Ah, why not? Just leave your parents a note or something,” he suggests. “Everything will be fine.”
“Oh, I don’t know, Louis…” you sigh.
“Oh come on, you’re smiling!”
“How did you know I’m smiling?” you ask, surprised.
“I can see you,” Louis chuckles.
“What?” you ask.
You look around frantically, wondering where that boy could be hiding.
“Where are you?” you ask.
“I’m in the bus,” he answers.
You look to your right beyond the fence and over the bushes. You catch a glimpse of the top of the bus.
“What are you doing here?” you ask, beginning to get excited.
“We’re here for you, love!” Louis says. “You had better decide now before our bus driver decides to drive away! We’ll be on our way to California!”
“I’m coming!” you quickly say.
“Ah, great! Boys, she’s coming!” you hear him say.
“YES!” you hear Harry yell.
“Hey guys, quiet down…” you hear Zayn mumble.
“Zayn, guess what? She’s coming with us!” you hear Liam say.
“Boys?” you say.
“What is it, love?” Louis asks.
“I’m going home to pack. Can you boys drive by my house and pick me up in a bit?” you ask hopefully.
“Of course love, but you’d better hurry. What’s your address?” Louis asks.
You give him your address and he is sure to write everything down.
“Ah, perfect! Thanks love, be there in a bit!” Louis says.
“Bye, Louis,” you say.
You hear the click and smile.
“Who was that, (Your Name)?” Marcy suddenly said, popping up behind you.
“Nothing!” you yell.
You shut off your phone and stuff it in your bag.
“Nobody,” you say. “I’ve got to get home.”
“Why? Don’t you want to hang out with us girls?” Marcy asks.
“And talk about One Direction? No thanks…” you say.
You begin walking down the school sidewalk.
“Hey, (Your Name)!”
Oh no. Not him. Anybody but him. You pretend you don’t hear him and begin running. You get to the road and begin running down it as fast as you can toward your house.
You fall onto your bed in exhaustion. That was close. You sit up and look around your room and spot your suitcase sticking out of your closet. You jump up, grab the suitcase, and set it on your bed. You begin to hastily grab clothing from your closet and dresser. You giggle when you pull open a drawer and see your brand new bikini. You snatch it and toss it in. The whole summer with the boys. You can hardly believe you’re doing this. Soon your suitcase is full and you zip it up. You scribble a note on some leftover scratch paper and run downstairs with it and your suitcase. You leave the note on the kitchen table for your parents to find when they get home from work. You glance out the window and see the huge bus sitting there. You open the door, lock it behind you, then run out into the yard. Louis and Liam come out to meet you at the side of the bus.
“Hey!” Liam says.
“Hi Liam,” you smile.
“Here, let me take your bag,” Liam says.
He takes it and sets it just inside the door.
“You ready?” Louis asks.
“Wait…” you say.
“What is it, love?” Louis asks.
“I can’t.”
“What? Why not?” Liam asks.
“Boys, remember what happened last time? The same thing will happen again, it’s so obvious.”
Liam and Louis look at each other and then at your sad face.
“Don’t worry,” Liam says, “we talked it through. We promised each other there would be no romance between us.”
“Yeah, we just want to get to know you more,” Louis explains.
Just then, you heard a voice calling you from down the street.
“Oh no,” you say.
“What’s wrong?” Louis asks.
“Who’s that?” Liam asks, pointing.
“Get in the bus! Quick!” you yell, pushing them.
“Alright, alright!” Liam says, jumping in.
Inside the bus, Harry’s eyes met yours instantly. The door shut hastily behind you.
“Hello,” he says.
“Hey Harry,” you say.
“(Your Name)!” Niall shouts.
You smile to see him sitting at the table across from Harry with several dirty paper plates stacked on it. You look over at the couch and see Zayn slouched on it as always.
“Hi Zayn,” you say.
Zayn says nothing but looks at you with his big, kind, brown eyes and smiles. You sit next to him and Liam.
“Well, here we are again,” Louis says.
The bus lurched forward and began to roll down the street.
“It’s good to have you back,” Harry says.
You smile.
“It’s good to be back, Harry.”
He gazes at you with those same penetrating green eyes.
“It’s a long way to California,” Liam says, carrying your bag to the closet across from the bathroom.
“Yeah, we should do something to pass the time,” Louis says.
“I know what we can play!” Harry says.
“Don’t say it…” Niall says.
“Aw, fine…” Harry says, chuckling.
“Let’s just sit and relax,” Zayn suggests. “She looks tired.”
Now you realize you are feeling a bit tired.
“Oh yeah, you’re right, Zayn. Why don’t you go take a nap?” Liam says.
“Yeah, maybe that’s a good idea,” you say.
“You can sleep in your bunk, in the back room, or I can make Zayn get off his lazy bum,” Liam offers.
You smile when Liam calls it “your bunk.”
“I’ll take my bunk, thanks,” you say.
You walk past the boys and down the bus. You push aside the curtain and go into the bedroom area and remember everyone’s bunks. You climb to the top bunk across from Harry’s messy bed. You stick your tongue out at the familiar sight. You realize your bed is already made as if the boys knew you would say yes.
