My name's Katsuki Bakugo, but most know me as Dynamight, the number two hero. I could go on a tangent about one of my many victories, or even bring up my rivalry with Deku, however the story I'm about to tell is about a boy. A boy that's smile shone brighter that any sun ever did. This story is about a boy I am proud to call my one and only friend.
It all started with a smile, how could a smile be so significant, because he held his head high accepting whatever was thrown at him. He was strong and brave, even with his insecurities he persevered. He was unbreakable both in body and spirit. He matched my fire with his own.we were truly a powerful duo.
He was always one to stand up for what is right or as he would say "what was manly". In truth he aimed to be a strong, chivalrous, and manly hero. He never realized he was that very definition long before we graduated. He had saved my life a long time ago. I was viewed as a villain, as much as I hate it, it wasn't far off. I was a bully with a awful personality. I yelled and cussed, I made countless threats and even told my childhood friend to take a swan dive off of a building. I was horrible to say the least. It wasn't a big surprise that when the world saw my victory at the sports festival and how badly I took it, the league of villains decided to kidnap me. They tried desperately to turn me to villainy but I refused. While the heroes were attempting to save me, a few of my classmates lead a rescue party to save me. As much as I hate to rely on Deku if not for Kirishima and him, I wouldn't be here today.
As much as it says that I respect Kirishima as a hero and a friend I wasn't the only one to see his worth, during our first year mentorship Kirishima went under a pro by the name fatgum, while fatgum respected Kirishima, he also misjudged him and his resolve. When his agency joined up with a few others to take down the Shie Hassaikai, an organization built on destroying quirks, who had a child captive to use her quirk to do so. The heroes each had their own battles being separated into small groups, Kirishima and fatgum went head to head with two known as Tengai Hekiji, and Rappa Kendou. Kirishima stepped in towards the end and took the brunt of Rappa's hits, earning the respect of Rappa who referred to him as a man worthy of a true death match, before informing them of where the infirmary was located.
While many would consider Kirishima a low scale hero and he mostly seems like a defensive type of hero, he has fought harder than most to expand his range strengthening his quirk in order to remain unbreakable, quickening his moves to get closer to enemies, and toughening his brute strength to be more offensive. He deserved to be a hero more than anyone I knew, even myself.
This brings me to recent events. Kirishima is placed sixth on the hero roster, and is willing to run into any situation head on, he never backs down no matter how tough it gets. So a week ago, he got the call there was a group of villains wreaking havoc in the south side of the city. He of course jumped to the rescue as always. But this time, this time was different. There were so many of them and only three heroes on the scene. Others including myself were rushing to the scene but we were too late, by time we arrived the heroes were down, and the villains were gone. There were so many injured, by the time we had counted them there were a total of 15 casualties and 37 injured. Among the injured there was 12 who were critical, and Kirishima was one of them.
Somehow Kirishima's quirk had failed him. He had three broken ribs multiple gashes and a severely deep stab wound near his heart there was severe internal bleeding and blood loss and that was only the worst. The moment I saw him I couldn't believe what I was seeing the man I called my friend laid there the life seeping out of him with every second, the panic rose in me as I knew he wouldn't last long. I had to decide either I leave him there and he'd surely die, or I take him myself and risk worsening his condition. I had to act fast, time was of the essence. I picked him up bracing him on my back, threw my right arm back, releasing an massive explosion, propelling us forward, switching arms I let off another explosion, I continued this method until finally I reached the hospital. "HELP, he's critical, please, just save him!" I was crying, truly crying. It was so out of character for me but I couldn't help it. Kirishima was my only true friend. He was so important. What else could I do?
Nurses and doctors crowded around me and retrieved Kirishima's limp body, rushing to salvage the life that was slowly fading in front of us all. Of course after they had moved him to the operation room I was left alone with the knowledge of his condition, I kept replaying it all in my head. Asking was there something else I could have done. After what felt like ages I finally decided to call the squad, they deserved to know as much as I did. I pulled out my phone and opened the group chat, hitting the voice call icon and it began to ring. "Yo, what's up bakubro?" Kaminari asked. "Whoa, Bakugo called us, that's new." Sero said. "Something's wrong, Bakubabe wouldn't call." Mina added. "Wait, where is Kiri?" Kaminari asked. I cried out in a loud sob. "Bakugo, what's wrong!" They all asked in unison. "K-Kiri, he's cr-critical!" I cried out. "We're on the way, hang on, Bakugo we'll be there soon!" They said and I heard them shuffling around and doors slamming.
Thirty minutes passed and the squad came rushing in. They all wrapped me in their arms. They know I may not show it but I care for them all, Kirishima especially, so for me to break down it must be serious. "It's ok, Kiri is tough he'll be ok I know it." Kaminari stated. "Yea, man he won't let this beat him." Sero chimed in. Mina however, sat down beside me and took my hand in her's, her eyes brimming with tears. "Hey Baku, I'm scared too, what do we do?" She asked me. I breathed shakily. "I-I don't know, I feel lost without him."
Now I'm here,it's been two weeks. I have only left Kirishima's side to go home and shower, and even then Kaminari, Mina, or Sero sit with him. The doctors say he's in a coma and we don't know if or when Kirishima will wake up, so we are just hoping at this point. I've had so much time to think on everything, the events recently have got my mind racing. I've began asking myself questions I never thought I would, and the answers have astounded me. 'when' Kirishima wakes up, and he will wake up, I'll tell him, I'll tell him everything.
