Part 1, Chapter 1: Blue and Beta

I woke up and today was normal. I helped Owen on a wild Parasaurolophus roundup. Of course, I was steered through towards a stray as he lasso'd it and was thrown off me. I wasn't having that. I went over and grabbed the rope with my teeth and pulled back with my arms on the ground. I held it steady as Owen tied the remaining rope around a tree stump. I was commanded to let go and lay down and I did what Owen said. What we didn't realize was a bystander in the trees, recording Owen commanding me and him calming the Parasaurolophus. That video was posted and was seen worldwide. Word spread about this "Dino Tamer" and it eventually led poachers and hunters straight to our family.

Owen got on my back as I stood up and we took the Parasaurolophus back to a group called "Biosyn" to be taken to a sanctuary to protect these dinosaurs. I felt a bit off, but I shook it off and walked Owen home. I stay out of sight when we take dinosaurs to Biosyn, only because they want me as well. They know I'm out here in this world. When we got there, Claire and Maisie were there. I smelled a new scent in the air, so I sniffed around and made a few warning sounds before a loud chirp. "Somethings up with Alpha," Claire said. Maisie came outside to see me but then we heard another velociraptor chirp. Owen and Claire thought nothing of it and went inside. I heard something approaching while I was outside with Maisie. Then a baby raptor came out of the shrubbery and I stepped in front of Maisie. Once I saw it was a baby raptor, I started communicating with it. It wasn't too long before it ran off. I suppose back to its nest. "That baby looked like Blue," Maisie said. I gave her a confused chirp. "Blue is a raptor that Owen used to train. She's not been around in a bit and we haven't seen her." When food was being prepared, I could smell it so I led Maisie inside. However, I could no longer go inside the house. They built a large stall for me to stay in while I slept. I stayed there with a horse so any poachers or hunters that came by wouldn't get suspicious. It was late so dinner was soon. I went into my stall with the horse and waited. Once Maisie came out, I ran out by her side. The baby returned and was looking at Maisie's toast. She gave the baby the food as it snatched it from her. Owen was watching us. Another velociraptor came out and got defensive. How did she have a baby? A mate? But they said I was almost genetically impossible, why would there be any other males? I stood guard of Maisie as Owen came running out with his hand out as if he were trying to tame her. I stayed ready in case she decided to attack one of them. She just looked at me and left with her baby. I let my guard down a bit looked back at Maisie. "Blue had a baby that's impossible," she said. "However it happened," Owen said. "Poachers will probably be after one of them, most likely her baby since it won't give much of a fight." Owen decided to take me and go into the forest to find their nest since it had to be near. "I'm going with," Maisie said. "No you're not. Stay here." She looked at me, expecting me to say something different but I just agreed with Owen. We took off into the woods. "Camouflage, stay close." I did as he said and the color of my skin changed to match the environment. We started looking around until we saw them. I only uncovered myself when the baby velociraptor was snatched. A poacher looked at me. "Well I be damned," he said. "We truly found him." Another tried to dart me but I spit poison in his eyes like a dilophosaurus. They were taking the baby raptor and I had to make a move somehow. I camouflaged and ran after the baby. Unfortunately, I was too late and the truck drove off. I screamed after it as it drove away. I was really frustrated. "Thank you," I heard. I turned to see the raptor. "For what?" I asked her. "Trying to save my baby. But now she's gone." She sounded incredibly sad. "I'll get her back. I always protect those close to my fam-" I was cut off by hearing a faint scream. I rushed over to Owen and put him on my back through his legs as I ran towards the bridge. When we arrived, Maisie's bike was thrown into the river. "Shit," Owen said as he guided me back home. "CLAIRE!" He jumped off my back and ran inside. "They found her! Get the truck!"

They get outside and the raptor shows again. She started showing signs of aggression and I got defensive. She ended up attacking Owen as I screamed at her. "Don't touch him!" I said. "They took my baby!" She said back. "I told you that I promise to get her back." "I'll get your baby back," Owen said. "Point proven." "Blue." She turned to leave. "Alpha." She ran off and Owen picked up his gun. He equipped me with my hunting gear in case I got lost while hunting. He got in the truck as he drove off. I stayed beside the truck no matter what. My gear protected my weak spots, so my only way of being captured is through death at this point. "ALPHA!" Owen called to me. I ran in front of the truck at full speed, clearing the road. People on the sidelines started recording this insane sight, even news came out of filmed. Once the airport was in our line of sight, Owen whistled for me to come back. I came back and stayed beside them the rest of the time. "Biosyn can fly us out, just have to do one thing," Owen said. The truck came to a stop as Owen grabbed the last addition of my gear. It was a mouth clamp to hold my mouth shut. He got out of the car and put it on me and dragged me along.

"Biosyn," Claire said to the person at the desk. "We're flying another out and we can't get this stuff off it." The person led them to a plane compartment as we got on and my clamp was removed. "Let's go save some kids," Owen said, starting the plane and getting us in the air. "It's going back on and you'll stay with an old friend while we find our lead to Maisie." I trilled in agreement as I fell asleep in the back area.
