Information for Context: I felt like writing something for Shaun, this is right after the events of Shang-Chi, featuring a surprise character :)

"Shaun, wait!"

You chased after Shaun, laughing as he jogged ahead of you down the streets of San Francisco. He had just taken you out for a round of karaoke and dinner, which was exactly what you needed after a rough day at work. He extended his hand out to you and you took it, smiling when he pulled you to catch up with him.

That was months ago.

Now, you anxiously waited at his bedside, a cool breeze blowing by as Shaun slept. His face was bruised and bloodied from the day's fighting. You reached out and gingerly took his hand, rubbing circles on his skin with your thumb as you reminisced what once was.

You blinked back tears, "I'm sure you're having an awesome dream," you quivered, "but," you sniffled, "I need you to wake up."

When you were met with no response, you broke, shoving your head into the covers and soaking them with your tears. Suddenly, there was a hand on your shoulder.
You looked up through blurry vision to find Wong standing above you, he was a friend that you and Shaun had made when he was thrown into a fighting ring days prior.

Wong flashed a reassuring smile, "He will wake up," he said, "they always wake up."

You nodded and wiped your tears away, "Thank you Wong," you whispered, "are you staying here?"

"Until Shaun wakes up," he responded, sitting next to you, "what about you?"

"Same here," you said, looking down to your lap, fidgeting with the fingers that weren't holding Shaun's hand.

Wong sat in a comfortable silence beside you, watching Shaun with a soft and pained expression. You finally managed to stop crying, and gratefully accepted the tissues that Wong had given you. Wong was the first to speak up, "I have a friend in New York," you looked to him, "he went through the same thing."

"Almost dying?" you asked.

Wong nodded, "He actually did die for a few minutes," he chuckled, "but nothing can defeat Doctor Strange."

You laughed, "This was in New York."

"Everything's in New York," Wong shot back.

You glanced to Shaun, "We were so happy in San Francisco," you brushed some hair out of Shaun's face, "he used to take me out to karaoke and dinner on Friday nights."

Wong intently listened in on your story, taking mental notes and occasionally glancing back to Shaun, praying that he would wake up for you.

"It's been days," Wong said, placing a plate of Dim Sum and dumplings on a table behind you, "you need to eat."

You looked over your shoulder and shook your head, "I'm not hungry."

"Yes you are," Wong replied, opening the Dim Sum containers, "eat."

Reluctantly, you sighed and turned around. Your mouth instantly watered at the warm proportions of food, and almost immediately you picked up the chop sticks Wong offered you and plucked up a dumpling. He chuckled and dug in himself and before long, you swore you heard a rustling behind you.

"Is that Dim Sum?"

You did a double take as looked over to see Shaun, awake and sitting up. You swallowed your bite of food and dropped everything, practically tackling Shaun back into bed, sobbing tears of joy. Shaun grunted and happily wrapped his arms around you, and needless to say, he did not want to let go.

"Don't do that," you cried into his shoulder, "please, don't do that."

Shaun chuckled and pulled your face up to his, gently caressing your cheeks with his thumbs. "I won't do it again," he softly said, bringing your lips to his in a sweet but passionate kiss. You sighed and melted into his touch, forever grateful that he woke up.

Wong cleared his throat behind you, "Guys," you broke away and both looked to Wong, a new and warm blush filling both of your faces," trying to eat here."

You and Shaun laughed. You looked back to him, taking his hand, "You hungry?"

Shaun kissed you again and threw back his blankets, "Starving."
