Elliot POV
"Come on boys let's go! Get up, get up! Y'all got shit to do! This is not Boy Scouts"
I woke up to yelling and a whistle blowing in my ear. My body jerked up to a sitting position as my eyes tried to focus on what was happening. The guy from yesterday who met me at the bus stop and did the orientation speech was yelling at us to get up. I still didn't know his damn name, but that's the least of my problems right now. Quite frankly I don't really wanna ask him either.
"If y'all don't start moving in the next five seconds Imma start tippin 'beds!" He yells again. I was still trying to get the sleep out of my eyes when everyone else was finally starting to stir. I watched Braxton practically roll out of bed and thump onto the floor.
"You a light sleeper boy?" He asked me.
"Yes sir, kind of" I yawned while speaking.
"Hmph, I guess we'll see how that plays out good or bad" he smirked and went back to blowing his whistle again making me wince and cover my ears. I have no idea what he meant when he said that. Me being a light sleeper shouldn't affect anything.
"I know y'all know the rules! Get up and start gettin' to it! I'll come back in an hour for inspection"
He walked out of the cabin slamming the door behind him. I was well awake by now, but a few of the others were still straggling. Braxton still being on the floor or Charlie just now trying to get himself to sit upright. Seriously? After all that they're still not completely awake?
"I hate when he does that," Axel says. He was already pulling on a shirt to get dressed.
"Wish he would just give it a rest sometimes" Tyler joins. Everyone was finally getting up. I pulled the covers off myself and cracked my back to get the stiffness out. It was a bad habit of mine. I can crack all my joints at pretty much anytime I want to. Evan who was now up too looked over at me and stared.
"Are you ok?" He looked kind of concerned.
"Yeah, why?"
"I don't know man, it sounded like you just dislocated your spine. You break your back or something?" He laughed a bit. I smiled and shook my head. That always tended to be people's reaction. I have not broken my back I just happen to sit like a banana-shaped fuck all the time. I grabbed some of my clothes out of my trunk. I ended up finishing organizing everything when we all got back last night. Everyone seemed fine with just changing clothes right in the middle of the room so I guess why not. I just quickly pulled on some jeans and a shirt.
"So uhm, what is it we're supposed to be doing? Mr- uh I don't know, said he'll be back in an hour to check" I asked. Evan finished pulling his clothes on and walked over to me. He draped his arm over my shoulders before explaining.
"Well first of all his name is Mr. Tritt. You better remember it because if he asks you to address him he'll be mad if you do it wrong. He did ask you a question when he was in here and you said sir which is the next best thing if you don't know, but I would stick to his name now and save the sir bit for other stuff" he explained.
"Ah, yeah I'm glad I said sir because I just didn't know what else to say and he kind of scares me"
"You don't have to fear him, Elliot. The man's intimidating already, don't let him feed off your fear. He's so fucking weird though. If you didn't notice by his accent he's actually from the south. Texas I think. If you ask me, I think his cowboy dreams got crushed so he ended up here somehow instead" Charlie stated. Braxton shoved his arm and laughed.
"Besides that" Evan continued. "Yesterday he explained we have chores to do each day, and he's just here to make sure it happens. When we're done though, we're free to do what we want" he smiled.
