Olivia shivered in anxiety as she sat down across from Mrs. Brown, a black therapist recommended by Nurse Joy. She was nervous as she didn't know what to expect as this was her first therapy session, but after she talked to Nurse Joy and how she felt as though she lost herself and felt so alone, she knew that it was the right thing to do. Mrs. Brown showed a very genuine and kind smile towards Olivia as she sensed her nervousness.

"Have you ever been in therapy before ?" Mrs. Brown asked nicely.

"Uhhhh, no, this is my first time," Olivia answered as she looked down at her hands.

"Well, I'll let you know that you're taking a step in the right direction. It's a very scary step that's difficult for a lot of people. I know that it can be really terrifying being in a session and talking with someone you don't know, so we'll go at your pace," okay ?" Mrs. Brown said sincerely.

"Alright," Olivia said as she looked up for the first time with a slight smile.

"Okay, so usually in a first session with a new client, I try to get a sense of who they are before we start to potentially talk about the deeper stuff, so Olivia, why don't you tell me about yourself like your interests, what do you want to do, your home life, etc. ?" Mrs. Brown asked.

Olivia always hated those "tell me about yourself" questions. It was as if she completely forgot everything she knew about herself, but she wanted to genuinely try here.

"Well, I'm Olivia Baker and I have a twin brother named Jordan, and we have both our parents, Laura and Billy. Our mom is working on her own law firm and our dad used to be in the NFL, but ever since he hurt himself, he's been a coach for both Beverly and Crenshaw before becoming the principal of Crenshaw High. Jordan and I both go to GAU along with my boyfriend, Spencer James," Olivia said with a sad smile.

"Spencer and I are together, but we've been having some issues and he's giving me some space," Liv finished.

"Is that something that you want ?" Mrs. Brown asked.

"I said that I did, but if I'm honest, I'm not really sure but I don't think so," Olivia said as she looked down at her feet again.

"Okay well, we can talk about that another time, but Olivia, I asked about you and I wanna know about only you, so again, tell me about yourself," Mrs. Brown said encouragingly.

Olivia took a nervous breath and tried again.

"Okay well, I'm Olivia Baker and I'm a journalist at the LA Tribune Online. As far as hobbies go, I love to dance, even though I don't seriously dance anymore, and I enjoy art as it helps relax me."

"Really ? I love art as well. I used to be not much of an artist and I'm still not, but art therapy really helped me out when I was in rehab and I stuck with it ever since," Mrs. Brown said, trying to relate to Olivia in order to make Olivia feel more comfortable.

Olivia was certainly touched by that last sentence as she was not expecting that in the slightest.

"You've been to rehab before ?" Olivia asked.

"Yeah, actually, I just celebrated me being 20 years sober a while ago," Brown said proudly.

"That's so amazing," Olivia said, feeling inspired.

"That's a nothing thing about me; I'm also a recovering addict. I hit my one year a couple weeks ago...again," Olivia said in a bit of a proud but yet disappointed tone.

"I went through a very very tough relapse and there was just so much going on," Olivia continued.

"Would you like to talk about that today and what led into your relapse ?" Brown asked.
