Jasmine stood on the top of the hill, watching the base burn. Another heavy arrow held in place with her right hand itched to be launched. She waited for the next signal. Another boom was heard from the base. Jasmine raised her bow and shot at the supply tower. The arrow arced over the land between her and the base, slamming into the tower. Another column of flames roared towards the heavens, then quickly subsided to little licks of fire here and there. She saw all the people running around, trying to put out the fire. They were like little ants trying to save their mound from collapsing

Suddenly, she heard three booms in succession, looked around and saw Matt's dark head streaking across the hills. There were at least five people running after him. Jasmine took an arrow off of the holster on her back, aimed, drew then fired at the closest to Matt. He went down. Repeating the cycle, she hit the next. He went down. The next one she shot at she missed. Blast.

She drew again and did not miss him the second time. Matt had a massive lead on the other two. The last of the men chasing Matt had seen their comrades go down, and Matt far ahead of them. They wisely decided to stop the chase. Once that was done, she too took off for the woods surrounding the base. She dodged between trees, so those possibly following her would lose her. She was aware of Matt in the corner of her eye doing the same thing.

When they had passed their designated 'safe point,' they slowed down. Matt climbed a tree to see whether anyone was following them. After a few minutes of watching, he gave the signal whistle to Jasmine, who was watching in another tree about one hundred feet away. Despite the fact that no one was following them, the two still walked quickly and quietly through the hills of trees.

Walking, no matter where one is or what one is doing, calms the soul. The massive adrenaline rush that the two teenagers just had was wearing off as they were walking. The steady crunch of the leaves in time under their feet was calming them as well.

The two had crossed miles of forest and reached the city walls by nightfall without many words. Waiting for the patrol to pass, they waited silently in the shadows of the tree tops. When the guard had passed and was out of earshot, the duo dropped from the far branches onto the ledge where the guard was five minutes previous.

Making hardly a sound as he dropped, Matt motioned to Jasmine to drop the weapons into his arms. She first dropped her unstrung bow into his arms, and went back to retrieve the quiver of arrows hanging on a sturdy branch. As she dropped them, a single arrow fell and landed on the cold, hard cement floor. Jasmine quietly dropped beside Matt as fast as she could, a worried expression on her face.

"Think they heard?" She whispered.

"Let's not wait and find out."

The arrow was kept out and the bow restrung and placed back in the hands of Jasmine.

"It might be a good idea to keep this out though, with the knives."

Jasmine nodded assent and pulled the pin that made knives shoot out the top and bottom of the bow, ready for stabbing anything that came too close.

Walking cautiously in the shadow of the buildings, they made it off the wall and down to the narrow streets below. Curfew already imposed for the night, moving without being seen was quite difficult and slow, especially with the patrol guards out in the streets. Sticking to the trash-filled alleyways instead of the open streets was a a mistake. Although the heaps of rubbish were a perfect place to hide, they made plenty of noise if messed with. Jasmine tripped over an object, throwing her into a pile of trash.

Guards from the surrounding area swarmed the alley. The first couple were shot by Jasmine, and it looked to be clear, until the alarms went off.
