The Kira Case was a quickly growing traction for the detectives set in Tokyo, Japan. People left and right were quickly dropping dead, with no logical reason as to why. Even with the help of detective L, and his ever growing suspicions on the chief of police's son, there was no concrete evidence aside from his speculation.

"L, sir, I'm sorry, but we're really getting nowhere in this investigation..." Soichiro Yagami sighed, uncharacteristically helpless. The sun was setting and countless hours of work began to hit, exhaustion slowly beginning to creep at the backs of the group of detectives. "I...I know you have your suspicions on my son, but I promise you, he's a good boy. A top student in high school and now at college. He's not capable of doing something like this. We need more solid evidence for this phenomenon and not just a baseless hunch."

Detective L Lawliet slowly looked over to the man, face lax as always and his eyes opened wide.

'You're right." L stated. "This investigation on Light is going nowhere. I simply do not have enough concrete evidence to convict him yet."

"Sir please, we need another lead, or another path to go on, or, or something!" Touta Matsuda exclaimed.

"We trust your judgement, we promise, that's why we called you on this investigation. However, we need to make real strides to finding out Kira." Soichiro pleaded.

"Frankly, I do still think your son, Light, has the highest chance of being Kira than anyone else." L stated once again.

Matsuda looked sympathetically at Soichiro, whilst Soichiro sighed dejectedly.

"But, if you insist."

Soichiro looked at the pale man. "What?"

"If you insist on finding another path for this investigation, I can call upon someone else to assist me in the investigation."

"Really? Are you serious?"

"I don't see why I wouldn't be."

"Who do you plan on calling, sir?" Matsuda asks, hopeful.

"A graduated criminal psychology expert. We already have a whole group of detectives, so I believe we'd need someone with a different angle on the ethics of crime to come assist us."

"Ethics? Of crime? A useless way to put it in my opinion." Another one of Soichiro's men, Ide, huffed under his breath.

"You may think that way as of now, Ide, but from what I've heard about our soon to be hire, their views on all illegal activities can be seen from both ways. We can use that type of double mindedness to help find the true intention of Kira. And we can use that same kind of double mindedness to catch them." L lamented, then snapping at Matsuda who immediately stood at attention. "Call the number +44 (020) 3492-3849. The receivers name is (Y/N) (L/N) in that order. They will not agree immediately. Persuade them. Give maximum detail with maximum secrecy. Go."

Matsuda gasped and nodded furiously, grabbing the handheld phone on L's desk and clumsily pushing in the correct numbers.

It was a breezy morning in the United Kingdom. Easy enough to wear a light coat and not feel hot. Easy enough to order a cup of piping hot black tea to accompany a small bowl of muesli for a late breakfast.

Now, only if that tea would hurry up...

(Y/N) (L/N) sighed, tapping their fingernails against the marble counter. They were about to yell out for the waiter when...they felt their phone buzz in their bag.

(Y/N) stopped, reaching down to their feet and fishing out their cell-phone.

"Hello?"

"Is this... (Y/N) (L/N)?"

(Y/N) paused briefly. "...This is they. How may I help you this morning?"

"Um...we would like to offer you a place on our team."

(Y/N) huffed. "I've been asked to join multiple teams. Might I ask which team this is?"

"Y-Yes, of course. Um, we are the police-detective team currently studying the um- Kira Case, in Tokyo, Japan."

(Y/N)'s back straightened. "Did you say the Kira Case?"

"Y-Yes! We are the team investigating the string of murders by the mysterious entity 'Kira'."

"And, pray tell, why would I be propositioned to join this team?"

"U-Um," The person on the receiver stuttered, "b-because... because we need you.'

(Y/N) hummed. "Every agency that calls me needs me. Or else why would they call me? I'm sorry. I'm hanging up now."

(Y/N) sighed through their nose. The Kira case was gaining traction world-wide. They knew they would be insane not to take it. However, they have made themselves quite the reputation of being virtually unattainable. All have tried, almost all have failed.

Why pass up a case they know they can solve just to uphold a measly reputation.

"W-Wait!" Came the cracked voice from the receiver. (Y/N) piqued their eyebrow and brought their phone back up to their ear.

"Yes?"

"We have L on our team. He deferred us to you."

(Y/N)'s eyes widened. "Really now?" They started. "Should I be flattered? Is that why I should fly to Japan?"

"No." The voice said, now stern and more confident, unlike it's previous timid demeanor. "We need you because we know you are the missing piece of our team. We know that with you actively working along side us, with us, we will be able to crack this case in a matter of weeks."

(Y/N) was silent for a few moments longer, casually rocking their leather boot against their leg. They spoke into the receiver.

"When do you need me?"

The person on the receiver sighed with relief, and in the background (Y/N) could hear shouts of congratulations.

"(L/N), thank you." Came a much deeper voice.

"Who am I speaking with now?"

"I am Soichiro Yagami, police chief in charge of the Kira case. You need not worry about the cost of plane or where you will stay. We have everything entirely sorted out. We would need you here potentially by...next Monday? What do you say?"

(Y/N) checked their planner. A little over a week. They can manage.

"Yes, I can."

"See you then."

At that, Soichiro hung up his end of the phone, and (Y/N)'s piping black tea was placed daintily in front of them.

Carefully grabbing the sides of the hot cup, (Y/N) lifted the rim to their lips and took a slow sip. They sighed calmly as they ingested the tea, grabbing a napkin to dab the sides of their mouth.

"Seems as if we'll be going on an adventure, won't we Kifo?"
