I knocked on the bedroom door before opening it. "You ok?" I calmly asked. "Why did you defend me?" she asked, not looking up at me. "You're my best friend, Ann's. I would go through hell and back for you." I said, sitting on the bed next to her. "You didn't have to do that." she said. "For you, maybe. But for me, I felt like I had to step in and pick up my fallen sister." "No, you don't get it." Annie said, sitting up."Then what am I not getting?" I asked. "He's been doing this for years... I've been hiding it, afraid of what might happen if I showed it to anyone else. You know how Asher was." she said. "I guess I thought the same with Hayden." "Oh my god." I said. "I'm so sorry, Annie." "It's fine. He's never hit me like Asher did." she said. "He better not." I said.
"So what are you gonna do?" I asked. "I'm leaving him. I need to get away from him so that he can't hurt me anymore." she said with a smile. I hugged her. "I'm proud of you." I said. "Thank you, sister." she said.
We finished being all emotional and went downstairs.
'He's still here?' I thought to myself. "Shouldn't you be out with your side piece?" I asked rudely. "Annie, I'm so sorry about what happened. I wasn't thinking." Hayden said. "Of course you weren't thinking. You never think about what you're doing, Hayden." Annie said, with her arms crossed. "Look, I'm stopping. I'm not hurting you anymore." he said. "Oh, but you are. You always do and today I've finally had enough of it." she said. "Annie, please." Hayden said with tears in his eyes. Pathetic. "No, Hayden. I'm done with your shit and I'm done with you." she said. "Now I want you to pack your shit and leave. You have 3 days to get the hell out of here and I never wanna see you again." "Annie-" "I suggest you start moving before I make you move." I said, cutting him off.
He hung his head low and slowly started walking upstairs. Annie's eyes started to fill with tears. "Hey, it's ok. I'm right here." I said with my hand on her shoulder. She wiped her tears and sat down on the couch.
