I couldn't sleep so I woke up extra early. At 5:00 am I was dressed in a pair of shorts and a lime green plaid shirt. I looked out my window and saw there were no clouds. I decided to see if I could get any information out of Xavier.
I slipped on a pair of flip flops and gently closed the door behind me. I could hear Kendred snoring even with his door closed. It has been a while since Cerberus and I have talked. The last time we talked was just before the incident. We haven't said a word to each other since then. I press my ear up to Cerberus' door.
Suddenly I'm lying on the ground. Cerberus had opened the door and I fell flat on my face.
"Um. I would prefer if you didn't clean my floor with your face." He looked down at me.
Embarrassed, I quickly got up and dusted off my legs.
"I was just, uh, making sure there wasn't any bugs in the door."
I looked at the door and punched it. "I think your good but I'll have to check later."
I put my hands behind my back and stretched the one. When I hit the door it actually hurt, it wasn't suppose to.He examined me suspiciously, "Alright. One, your a terrible liar. Two, I'm a vampire so no I wasn't sleeping, and three, get some ice for your hand."
I put my hands in front of me and looked down at them. My knuckles were turning black and blue. A irritated sigh escaped his lips and he walked around me. Before I could look up to see he was gone, he was back. In his hands was a bag of frozen peas.
"Sit." Cerberus firmly told me.
"What? No! I'm not a dog!" I exclaimed and crossed my arms.
"Well you look more like a two year old when you do that." He chuckled as I quickly uncrossed my arms.
"Fine then. Where do you suppose I sit in this pig sty you call a room." I tried to be mean by making a snarky comment.
He just chuckled, "Feisty."
He made his bed and threw some stuff off. He motioned for me to sit.
"Your majesty." Cerberus said sarcastically.
"Thank you." I sarcastically replied.
"I can't stay long, I need to talk to Xavier." I cringed when the bag of peas touched my hands.
He sighed a little irritated, "Wait one moment." He took the bag out of my hands.
"Hey! I'm not done with that!" I exclaimed as he walked out the door.
In a few moments he returned, "Here."
He sat next to me, placed my bruised hand on his palm, then with his other hand placed the bag of peas, wrapped in a cloth, on my injury. I looked at the bag of peas for a while.
"So why do you need to talk to Xavier?" He asked.
"I need his help so I can understand a few things." I exhaled heavily.
Cerberus suddenly got defensive, "Why do you need him to help you? I." He paused. "Any other guy in this house could help you. What can he do that I. I mean we can't do."
I had to try and stop him before he punched a wall, or worse crushed my hand.
"Cerberus." I tried to get his attention. He continued to rant.
With my good hand I grabbed his face from looking around and pulled it to look directly at me.
"Cerberus!" I shouted a little louder.
He just stared at me. With his golden eyes in ablaze. The rims of his iris' were bewitching to gaze upon. They mesmerized me as I noticed his eyes were searching my own. They looked for confidence and passion. His eyes drifted down to admire my lips.
I snapped out of it, "Pull yourself together! Xavier isn't better then you, or the others! Okay?"
He didn't respond, I let go of his face and went to slap him. Just before my hand made contact on his face he grabbed my wrist. I jolted at the sudden roughness.
"Don't. Try that. Ever again." He sneered at me.
"Why? Can't take a little heat?" I remarked teasingly.
Obviously I don't think he heard it was a tease, "Now listen here! Your in my room in my house! So don't get snarky!" He raised his voice.
I started to get frustrated, "Oh I see how it is! You think that you own everything!"
"What on earth! I didn't say that!" He grabbed the pack of peas.
"You sure did intend to!" I started to repeat what he said in a lower voice than my own. "My house! My room! My food! My Delilah!" I shouted at him.
"Stop mimicking me! I don't sound like that! I never said any of that!" He yelled, threw the bag of peas and it burst on the wall.
We both stood up and bickered at each other's faces. It went on for about fifteen minutes. We started calling each other names. Until he said another snarly comment.
"Well your such a feisty fox!" Cerberus snapped.
It took a moment for me to process what he said. Before I could react he grabbed me and kissed me. I pulled away and slapped him across the face. We both stood there in shock at what happened in the last minute. Then I turned and ran.
As I left the house I heard Cerberus yell, "Go ahead and run! That's all you ever do! Then when the battle comes your just going to abandon us all!"
Mixed emotions overcame my body. Then I couldn't run any more. I collapsed just before the tree line of a forest. This time I didn't bottle anything up. I didn't hide it and sit in my room. I let everything out. I shouted until I couldn't breath. I cried until there was no longer any liquid to fall from my eyes. I ran around kicking and punching the air until I fell over. It was about mid day that I realized that my ranting would change nothing.
Out of energy, and options, I rested my eyes.
"Delilah. We need to talk." A firm voice said.
"Cerberus. Not now. I'm sick and tired of your mood swings and your sudden actions. My thoughts are all messed up right now. If you so much as say another word I will punch you in the throat!" I groaned and put my arm over my face.
I heard a soft laugh, "So I guess my Cerberus impersonation was pretty good then."
I quickly sat up, put my arm down, and opened my eyes.
"Ren! Oh my... I'm so sorry!" I tried to apologize.
He chuckled and sat down, "no hard feelings. Look, why don't you go take a swim with your friend and then come back for supper? I'll deal with Cerberus." He smiled.
"Thanks."
"No problem."
We both stood up and went our different ways.
"Wait! Ren! I have a question!" I shouted.
He turned around, "What is it?"
"Where is Xavier?" Good thing we were far apart other wise he would question the mixed emotions that were on my face.
"He'll be back for supper."
With that, we kept going our own ways. I went for a swim, chatted with Amatheia, then went back for supper. Once I walked in the door it was quite. I stepped in to the kitchen and sat in a chair. I picked up and apple and started to munch on it.
Jasper called from upstairs, "Delilah! Please get the plates on the table! Xavier will be back any minute."
I agreed and set the table. Though what was so important about Xavier's return?
