"So?" She said in a blank tone.
To say this made Yangyang furious was a lie. He was fuming . He had no idea why his cousin was acting like this. He could understand to an extent where she was coming from, but wasn't this too much?
"Gosh Aina, fine leave. Run away like you always do." He spat walking to his room slamming the door.
Aina stood rooted to the ground as tears dripped on the ground making small spots of the floor wet.
She didn't possess the strength to walk away or stand as she slumped down to the ground and crumpled herself, breaking into sobs. Her silent screams were unheard, she clenched at her heart, in hopes of releasing the pain she was feeling.
She didn't hear the door knob twisting and the slow footsteps of her cousin until he knelt down to gently caress her hair, engulfing in a hug.
She didn't know she craved this until her silent cries become more prominent and she cried aloud. Yangyang stayed there for her, as she broke down. Not knowing how to help her he gently rubbed her back muttering a small 'it'll be alright' to her.
Minutes felt like hours but Aina did not stop crying. She felt like all the suffocation she held from the past few months added up to her break down session as tears kept running down her cheeks.
"H-he..he fucking rememberd Chenle, Yang." She broke inbetween her sobs "where did I go wrong, I literally spent every fuckin minute in h-his house." Came her hiccuped voice.
"Shh. It's gonna be okay." Yangyang said as he patted her back in an attempt to console her.
Her meltdown simmered down like the rain on a moist summer evening. Her teary eyes searched for her cousin's, "I'm not blaming him Yang, I am not. It's great he remembers every single one of you. I'm happy for that. I just hoped someday he reckoned me too, but I think I just have to come to terms with it." A bittersweet smile formed on her lip, as she slowly stood up.
Both the cousins parted ways to their own room after a lot of crying and a lot of consoling. She couldn't help but go back to think about what Yangyang said to her.
"Run away like you always do." She repeated over and over again holding onto the paper boat she had been told to keep.
She knew it was a problem that she had to rectify and teach herself. But she also realised that she became a coward whenever she tried to overcome it.
Her suitcase laid open, with a million things in and around it. But her mind kept getting side tracked retracing his every word.
Unknowingly her distracted mind unfolded the paper boat that was kept at the nightstand. Somehow in the middle of her constant thinking, she had picked it up, examining each and every fold and sides. What she didn't expect was to find a letter on the inside of it. Aina immediately crumpled the paper as her eyes widened.
Oh my god. What if it was something personal? Or was that a waste paper? Was it meant for her? Did he accidentally give her the wrong boat? Was she meant to have it even? Hold it?
A million thoughts swarmed through before she slowly opened it again.
Here eyes darted, glancing at each and every sentence rapidly as they got imprinted at the back of her mind. Somehow, the letter made her feel ashamed of her own actions, she felt guilty for how she had just reacted. Her eyes formed those very well known tears again. And this time, she didn't hold back like she thought she would as the tears ran down her cheeks.
...
3 months later
3:10 p.m, Lake Luna
Aina sat on a bench, unfiltered thoughts lingered in her mind like always, as she focused on the pictures she just clicked of the lake which seemed quite misty for a winter afternoon.
A few minutes passed as she worked with her camera, deleting and meddling with the settings for her next shot. She felt somebody's presence beside her but she payed no mind. Finally looking up, she glanced at the stranger.
For the past three months, Aina worked on herself to get her life together. She went back home, but saying bye to her cousin and Jisung unexpectedly, was one of the hardest things to do. She didn't want to reminisce all the pain saying goodbye to her lover but she put behind her feelings, one last time as she politely bowed a goodbye to him.
She stopped thinking about Jaehyun—who was she kidding—some days she cried herself to sleep while some days she wouldn't get a wink of sleep. She was turning out be an insomniac until the last month, she pulled herself together. She looked for places she could rent nearby Yangyang's house and made changes in her lifestyle.
She thought she had achieved it all until her skipped a beat again glancing at him. All the feelings, that was stored in a jar cracked open as she met his eyes. She could never forget how they made her feel.
Deciding she should keep her cool, she smiled politely turning ahead and clicking a few shots of the scenery ahead of them.
There was no point in hoping, she realised. Not like he would remember her anyway, right? Hence, she got up, ready to walk away.
Jaehyun stood up as well, following behind her although he maintained a good distance between them.
Glancing sideways, Aina turned around stopping in her steps as she stared at him.
"Don't you really wanna know if I'm gay or not?" He smirked as he spoke.
