"I'm sorry?"
"I'm not, by the way." He did not stop giving her a boyish grin.
Aina's mind pondered to figure out the nonsense he was currently spewing before she realised how their very first encounter happened.
Realisation hit her like a blizzard storm as she gasped, as both of her hands shot up to cover her mouth. "No way" she whispered, trying not to get her hopes up.
Jaehyun wouldn't stop smiling at her and his grin only widened looking her reaction. He anticipated for her to come and hug him—real tight. Being dense in the head, he proceeded to open his arms for her as his eyes crinkled and his whiskers showed.
As expected, Aina did run towards him. Jaehyun'a smile dropped when she didn't move. He expected her to hug if not jump at least.
"Slap the fuck out of me."
"WHAT?" He was beyond confused.
She held out her arm this time, "Slap me or pinch me at least." She said in a serious tone.
"No, Aina I'm not going to do that to you. What the actual fuck." He responded stepping back.
"I'm not Yangyang's cousin anymore?" She gasped.
Jaehyun inched closer as he bent down, meeting her at eye level. She looked up at him as her head bent backwards a little, unknowingly. An audible gulp reached their ears.
"Owww-what the fuck." She flinched, rubbing her arm, feeling a stinging ache as Jaehyun had pinched her, obliging to her commands.
He stood back up straight again, inserting his hands in either sides of his pockets as he blinked at her. His tongue poking the inside of his left cheek, staring at her up and down.
"I thought you'd come hug me or something but you disappoint me." He clicked his tongue as he turned around to face the lake, kicking loose grass, a small pout adorning his face.
"Sorry, it's just hard to believe that you remember who I am after all the convincing I did to myself saying you wouldn't bat an eye at me once I left this town." She rambled turning around as well.
"Well, I'm finally here aren't I? I Came back to you like I said I would." His face turned sideways to look at her as she gave him a downside smile.
"Do you.." she wondered before she mumbled a nevermind.
"What is it?" He urged her.
"I mean, do you recall any of your memories too?" Her skeptical tone reached his ears.
"Hmmm, do I? Why don't I tell you over some ice cream?" He asked reaching out a hand for her to hold.
"In this weather?" She held on to his arm as they began walking.
"Why not. You literally took me out when it was raining."
"You are smoother than butter, you know that? Asking me out like that." Her voice boomed in a distance as they chattered away happily, smiling and laughing.
...
"I'm getting this next time. The heck it's so good?" She spoke in-between, eating Jaehyun's ice cream.
"Berry is always good." He said chuckling at her, "and I still can't believe you got chocolate."
"Why, is that surprising to you?" She stopped eating to look up at him.
"Yes? I don't know, for some reason I thought that would be the last flavour you'd pick." He said making her shake her head in denial.
"So, do you recall anything?" She asked.
