Jinx stared at the orange-haired girl who she had been sitting next to for hours. They hadn't talked, they just sat there, silently, until the other shifted."My name's Corabel." She spoke softly, reminding Jinx of the first time she introduced herself.
"I know."
"I just wanted you guys to use my name."
"We-I mean, I know. I'm sorry."
"Why didn't you?"
"I... I liked not being the odd one for a while... not being a jinx on everything we did. And when Mylo focused on teasing you, he wasn't teasing me." She raised her legs up so she could rest her chin on them.
Corabel made a small noise to show she heard but wasn't happy.
"You can call me Cora... or Bell."
Jinx's head tilted back at her in confusion.
"I thought you wanted us to use your full name?"
"Not really. I just wanted you guys to acknowledge that was my name. I don't mind nicknames that come from my name, cause it's important to me."
"How come?" At the question she was quiet for a moment before she then shook her head.
"I should go." Cora stood up and Jinx's eyes widened.
"No!"
"What?"
"You can't just disappear again! I... No! You can't!"
Cora's eyes widened as she looked back down at Jinx, who was begging her not only verbally but with her eyes as well with how desperate she looked. While she was aware of her own abandonment issues, she never expected to see the same on Jinx, though she seemed a lot more frantic. Seeing her like that reminded her of when she first tackled her and she kicked her off before she started talking to herself.
Jinx definitely wasn't the same Powder that she knew.
"Sorry. I won't go." She sat back down and that was all it took for the other to crawl over to her and lay on her lap. Cora didn't expect it, but she soon accepted that this was happening so she just relaxed and let the other calm down.
"I'll call you Bell." She mumbled and Cora just hummed and nodded.
"Good. Now, what should I call you?"
She heard a confused noise come from the other, "Jinx?"
"I'm not gonna call you that crude nickname that Mylo made up to hurt you. You aren't a Jinx."
The girl could feel more tears in her eyes as she then buried her face into Cora's shirt to hide them.
"Then whatever you want." She mumbled through the fabric and the other girl took a few seconds before she nodded.
"How about Tails?" Jinx lifted her head in confusion. A lot of things Cora says have been leaving her confused.
"Tails?"
"Your braids are long and follow behind you like they're your tails so why not?"
Jinx sat there thinking about it for a minute before she nodded with a small grin, the tears still on her face, but no more were falling so it was a good sign.
"Tails it is!"
